Has anyone looked at Bargnani/Barbosa to Utah for Al Jefferson/Bell?

I'd much rather be spending the $ on Jefferson's (shorter) contract than Bargnani's and Bell would provide some nice veteran perspective for this year. Also, this is sending a real scorer back to Utah.

Thoughts?

No thanks to Korver. Save our money for free agency or trade to land a PG or SF. Don't care to add him long term until we have a definite starter at at least one of those positions.

Korver is essentially expiring, he's only 500k guaranteed for 2012-2013. I'd definitely do it for the additional late pick in this draft.

Yeah Korver + CHI 2012 pick for Barbosa is more than fair. We need 3pt shooters too.

Raps Trade - Kleiza and Amir Johnson
Raps Receive - Al Harrington

Always have liked Al, can play SF or PF. Good vet to have when we turn the corner, dump a bunch of salary. Denver lacks depth, one of the thinest rosters in the NBA. We can save the amnesty and use on Jose, gives us incredible flexibility for 2012. Trade LB for a late first rounder in 2012 draft.

2011 Raps

Bayless - Calderon - Carter
DeRozen - Barbosa
Johnson - Butler - Forbes
Davis - Harrington
Andrea - Gray -Magloire

2012 Raps

PG - No one under contract (MAX contract on Deron Williams) - late first rounder 2012
2G - Demar - sign a vet
SF - Johnson - Harrington - (2012 lotto pick)
PF - Davis - Bargnani
C - Jonas - Gray

Here's one that might be interesting. This only happens if/once the Lakers give up on trading for Paul. It's structured as two separate trades because of the TPE, but is really just one deal:

to LAL: Barbosa, Jose, 2nd rounder
to TOR: TPE (for Barbosa), Walton, Blake, Dallas 1st (top 20 protected from 2012-2017), LAL 2012 1st.

for the Lakers, Barbosa gives them a productive bench scorer to help fill some of the void left from Lamar's departure, and he's expiring so he can be used to take back salary in a Howard deal if needed (I don't think Orlando would agree, but something like Bynum+Barbosa for Howard+Hedo is actually possible for them, unlike now where they have no ability to provide immediate salary relief for Hedo). Jose is actually a big upgrade for them at starting PG.

for us, we open up a ton of minutes for Bayless this year to fully evaluate him as a starter, with AC and Blake as adequate veteran backups. And we pick up 1sts from two contending teams that have seen a lot of changes since last year. Perhaps we get lucky and some guys we like in the mid-1st round drop, or perhaps we can package the picks in a trade, or try to move up. We even increase our capspace a tiny bit, and we'd have a 7.6 mil TPE which we may be able to use later. Having 3 picks in this draft, along with Jonas, and our current young players, would give us a lot of options in terms of how we want to improve our roster, whether it be through the draft, trades, or even perhaps in s&t scenarios in free agency.

Bargs/Gray/Magloire/Alabi
Amir/Ed
JJ/Butler/Kleiza/Walton
DeMar/Forbes
Bayless/AC/Blake

+Jonas, Raps 2012 pick, DAL 2012 pick, LAL 2012 pick.

OMG no! Harrington is a **** cancer! The guy has shown he can take a team and destroy them with his attitude. Casey would hate him and run him out of town or the fans would.

There is no way I move Johnson for that guy at all Johnson has more value then this.

There is no way Utah even touches this deal, they just got rid of their soft shooting big man in Okur so why take on another one? They have Favors and Kanter they are trying to develop trading Al Jefferson right now for Bargs isn't the smartest move. They should trade Al Jefferson for a swingman or some good PG help.

Toronto would easily take that deal and if I am us I would move Ed Davis or Amir Johnson for a 2nd 2012 pick and rebuild with Al Jefferson and Jonas V as my 4/5 combo. Al and Jonas V could be a very effective combo as both provide good rebounding and both could be very good shotblockers. Al gives Toronto a very good low post scorer as well and makes us a legit team if we draft Kidd-Gillchrist at #8-#10 in this draft + take on a PG prospect like Worten/Kobango/Marshall with Ed Davis' pick.

i really like the deal brought up by a bulls fan on the trade board.

To TOR: Korver + Pargo (unguaranteed) + Bulls 2011 1st Round Pick
To CHI: Barbosa

Korver is 500,000 guaranteed so it doesnt hurt our cap space, we grab another pick in a deep draft, Barbosa is only going to help us win games.

Id trade Bargnani + bulls pick to move up and get a PG prospect like Kabongo + get depth elsewhere

Kabongo / Bayless
Derozan / SG
Barnes or Miller or Gilchrist / Johnson
Davis / Amir
Val / C

really like that team.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Korver would be a good addition always nice to have a guy that can shoot lights out, and the pick is nice. Barbosa adds wins to our team and may be more useful on a contender this year. I like the idea of giving Barbosa to the Bulls to screw over the Heat.

Rose/Watson
Hamilton/Barbosa
Deng/Brewer
Boozer/Gibson
Noah/Asik

Best defensive team last year + Hamilton and Barbosa are not a dropoff defensively from Korver and Bogans + this extra burst of offense = success

I don't think I give up that much to get another top pick. Right now I see the top 4 prospects as:
1) Andre Drummond
2) Anthony Davis
3) Jeremy Lamb
4) Perry Jones III

So Toronto would be forced to pick Barnes early with the worse pick between Toronto and Charlotte. The reason I say Barnes is cause Lamb is a SG and last time I checked DeRozan was still a Raptor and a very good one. So giving up Ed Davis + a unprotected 2013 pick (which could be a very good player Mohammad/Christmas/Rivers/McAdoo/Steven Adams/Zeller would be too much for me unless we put some sort of protection on the pick like top 5-6

A bit premature considering the raptors have yet to play a game yet but how about this:

Bayless + Amir

for

Bledsoe + Foye + Minnesota's 2012 1st rounder

The Clippers get the best two players right now in the trade. The Raptors get a young pg with potential to eventually start in Bledsoe, an expiring contract and an extra pick in the draft without losing Ed. The clippers get some additional front court depth in Amir who would be playing in his home town along with a guard who can come off the bench and score in bunches in Bayless.

Fair?

That minnesota pick is likely a top 10 pick in a good draft, and it belongs to the hornets now from the Paul trade.

I think this may be possible. Watching the Clips-GSW game yesterday...man Curry didn't look comfortable out there with Monta at all. Monta doesn't give Steph any freedom to play as a point guard with the way he tries to jack up shots quickly by himself. I think Steph can use a change of scenery where he can actually run the point, TO would be a great fit. DeRozan is a guy who picks his spots unlike Monta. To make salary match though, we might need to take on Biedrins? In which case I may take out the pick or put some protection on it.

Bargs, Bayless, 2013 top-10 protected for Curry, Biedrins.

Then again, GSW may just trade Monta.

Hopefully Bargnani has a big season so we may have an opportunity to cash in big.

Curry + D.Wright + Biedrins for Bargnani/Barbosa/J.Johnson + our 2013 pick unprotected

Amnesty Jose in the offseason, make a run at Batum for example and end up with:

Curry/Bayless
Derozan/Lamb?
Batum/Wright/Klezia
Davis/Johnson
Val/Biedrins

Oops I thought the clippers managed to keep the pick in the trade, my mistake.

Return to Toronto Raptors
