Well said. The Heat weren't looked at upon seriously, then they became the Eastern Conference champs and went to the Finals, beating the number 1 seed in the East/MVP/COY/EOY/etc. THEN people started to take them seriously. The Knicks are going to have to do something equivalent to that to earn any respect. Even though it's said... yeah they'll have to win their first playoff game in awhile first lol.

Heat, Bulls, Celtics, Mavs, OKC, Lakers, hell I think even the Clippers and Grizzlies are better than the Knicks.

People make fun of our guys for joking about championships, but its not like they said, "Bring on the Lakers/Celtics" as soon as they got together. They actually showed a ton of respect to those teams.

Whereas with the Knicks, its like they've already forgotten Chicago exists.

Amare was obviously joking, he's very good friends with Wade & Bron, it's all in the competitive spirit.

I think you mean sensitive

And okay, why can't we be "in the competitive spirit" and poke at fun at the Knicks and their 4000 year playoff win absence?

I think the Knicks could be better then the Celtics mainly due to age alone, though it's close. LA Lakers are iffy at this point too, the only decent players left are Kobe and Gasol, Bynum is a ticking time bomb and the rest are over the hill or scrubs. Clippers are on the same tier as NY imo (though if CP3 can help bring some D then they are better). Everything else I agree with.

Knicks biggest issue before I can take them serious is defense. I think Mike Woodson might be able to turn that around though.

But as a lot of you said i can't take them serious till they've EARNED my respect. Though I won't be as negative about them as some of ya'll

I was just reading the knicks board and man the homerism is strong in that one! I mean camon Rondo a scrub, Shumpert ROY , Melo > LBJ oh and yes Knicks gonna beat us in 7 games... They need a reality check cuz their D still sux and last time they won a Playoff game was like 999999 years ago.

Knick fans here in NY let their homerism cloud their judgment, Boston can still take them in a series (barring any injuries).

Our only concern should be the OKC Thunder; the Bulls are good, but I'll be damned if they find a way to win more than 2 games against us in the playoffs.

I get a kick out of players trash talking. It is good for the game and creates good rivalries. Amare is just doing his thing and has pride in his team. I am fine with that. But, they are not in the Heats level of ballgame.

Delusional would be apt word to describe them. Here are a couple of my favorite tidbits.

Melo's definitely a better scorer than Wade and Lebron, I'd even argue he's a better all around offensive player as well

Melo might honestly be the best scorer in the league. If I needed a bucket, and I needed to call on someone to score for me, I'd choose Melo over anyone else. He performs well in the clutch, and has a ton of tools to get high-percentage shots off. I don't think that's the Knicks fans' problem. To me, they just overlook D'Antoni being a cancer on that team. They can't win **** without defense, and Chandler is not a defensive coach.

Also, some of their fans are going nuts over the signing of garbage time all-star Jeremy Lin. They are as desperate for guards as we are for centers. They'll take anyone. Are you remotely athletic or popular? Then come on down to Manhattan. There might be a starting slot for YOU! Just look how much they gassed Shumpert who has been easily outplayed by Cole, Irving, Walker, Jimmer, Morris and Knight. PEACE.

Disagree and i think the numbers show otherwise. Lebron when hes had to carry the scoring load in cleveland has been a 30+ ppg scorer for the season multiple times. Wade when he was in the same situation won the scoring title scoring over 30 ppg. Even with Wade and Lebron being far superior than Melo in terms of passing and getting other players involved, their scoring numbers are still better. If Wade and Lebron decided to focus solely on scoring like melo does the descrepancy would be even greater

I have a hard time calling guys like Pau and Dirk soft. Those guys won championships. They are hard nosed players that I admire. I like good competition, but I personally don't feel the need to trash great players and their accomplishments just because they are not on my teams and are my rivals.
