Their help defense was beyond solid and Hayes' help D was off the charts. Many times he stepped in the lane to help and deterred open shots. Not just his blocks or charges, but many times. They did pretty well on the pick and roll as well and Tyreke was just a complete ball hawk. Salmons was great on Kobe as well.

Please enlighten me as to the pleathora of offensive weapons the Lakers had that the kings stopped. Because there was only one guy who got shut down: Pau. Artest, the only other offensive weapon aside from Kobe, had his way, and Kobe being old, injured, and his chucking self, still managed 29 points on 42% shooting (not unlike him). Not to mention, Brown has no offensive coaching ability. Please.

The best thing is the commitment and how the team was playing as a unit on defense, even when Westphal starting to mass substitute they didn't completely fall apart, even though that kind of subbing can destroy team defense and offense.

I'm not arguing that the team looked bad. I'm saying that there's still a lot of room to improve, and that they aren't winning anything until they improve those areas.

I never said the team is worse off with Hayes, but rather worse off with an overall size down-grade. I would have liked to see them pursue some other guys in the market. I was disappointed I didn't hear of a huge offer to Marc Gasol, but there were guys like Aaron Gray who I thought would have been perfect for the team, but they wanted small-ball instead.

Lol. You understand defense doesn't necessarily appear in the box scores right? Hayes isn't your "athletic" defender in the mold of a D12, KG, etc.

What Hayes does well is fundamental defensive principles. Forcing your opponent into playing their weak hand. Putting pressure where it's needed. Limiting the options your opponent has in driving, etc. Hayes completely maximized his 6'6 frame. Imagine if Hayes took Cousins under his wing and helped Cousins maximize his 7'0 frame.

Hayes is a much better defender than Dalembert. Watch the game and particularly watch the type of shots Dally's and Haye's opponents take.

Even at 6'6, Haye's is one of the BEST post defenders in the league. You have to actually watch the game to understand Chucks impact....something you clearly don't do.

gold - no one is arguing against what you're basically saying in the bottom line. thats why it looks like you're argueing for the sake of argueing.

Who here doesn't think there's still a lot of room to improve? who thinks we're gonna blaze through to the playoffs just cause Chuck arrived?

We're just happy for this game, for all the team - and among them Chuck who had a great game defensively especiely, managing Gasol on his own, fighting on the boards, blocking shots(3 blocked shots), saving possessions, taking charges and also doing a solid work offensively aswell in the flow of the game - while having to play without a real bigman next to him most of the time as Demarcus got foul trouble.

Whats so wrong about that?

Kobe is only 6 months older than he was in the 2011 playoffs. He ain't that much different. Kobe routinely plays through injuries. Don't tell me, that 6 months ago he needed to be shut down and now Kobe doesn't need to be shut down. Gasol is the only weapon now.

No, what did he say? I loved Demarcus's interview in GameTime though. he was saying they should call MT23 a superstar and that he calls him Mr.bigshot

Brent Barry was such a douche tho.

"It's not a rivalry," Bryant said. "We beat them every year. Oh my God. I don't care if they beat us tonight. I like (Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof). I hope they enjoy this."

Thank you. We beat the freakin' Lakers. We hate them and we beat them.

Even deNIEd is happy, and the dude is never happy. That should be enough to convince anybody that we have something potentially good going on here.

I still think we might end up as a bottom 5 team this year :P

We have A LOT to improve upon. However, I love what I saw from Cousins. Cousins has all the talent in the world and can easily become a dominant big in this league. His biggest problem last year was mental weakness (IMO). Whenever times got rough, he would mentally fall apart, rush shots, become impatient, lose his cool, etc. However, tonight, that wasn't the case at all. I think we can all agree the only thing holding DeMarcus from being an elite PF/C is his own maturity and mental game.

Our PG's need a lot of work in their play making, but the potential is there.

I really think Hayes (a vocal leader) and possibly Salmons as well, will do wonders and help mature our young players a year or two faster than if they were left on their own.

Even though I still foresee a very rough year, I think we can all agree that we can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our team has a lot of potential and it looks like we are making strides to reach that potential. :D
