Im Glad We Lost (Flip, NY, & Dray Gripes Edition)



I know Im going to be in the minority again but I dont care. We needed that lost for Flip to get on the ball. People are going to say that Im making excuses again, espically for Dray but it is what it is. I made like only 2 threads all Preseason and both came to fruition to me on opening night. 1 thread was about NY has to start and the other thread was about Dray and 1 thing I clearly talked about in there is Dray getting on the low block more. I said that Im not liking what Im seeing in him and that he's regressing but he has to be more decisive, aggressive, and Flip has to get in his head that he needs to get on the block or he will never reach that potential.

Then though, I hear fans who watch the Preseason games say that they dont like that Dray seems to be only picking & popping or only catching the ball on the perimiter. Then I watch the last Preseason game and opening night and its the same thing. I blamed Dray for that but now its clear that its Flip's stupid playcalling. Then Dray says something about it after the game, Lee rips him, and the fans agree and want to ship him out.

Its 1 game but its a shortend season and its been the same thing since Flip got here. We are the same team and he's not getting the best out of our guys. Then every fan cries about Dray not going inside but they all agree that all they see him do on O is set picks and then pop. He himself is saying he wants it on the block.

Our fans hate seeing him play soft or settling for the J. He wants to play different and now our fans are still ripping him? Espically when our O looks like crap? Get the man the ball where he wants it and then if he sucks, you can kill him but I think he will look a ton better. I use to blame him for that but its clear he gets the ball out top nearly every time he touches it. Also, in the Preseason both Dray and Wall complained about the scoring roles and nearly all Wiz fans wanted NY to start after the Presason so what does Flip do? He brings him off the bench, NY scores 16 in only 18min, and our star in Wall sucks because he has no shooters on the floor with him.

Again, Wall & Dray complain about the scoring roles and Flip responds by putting our best scorer on the bench. It doesnt make any sense. What is the point of that? Again, its not just about NY but look at your Franchise guy in Wall. He has sucked since JC has been the starter. Put NY by him and watch him play great again. I just think it all coincides with eachother. People will learn there roles quicker with NY starting, Wall will look a ton better with another shooter on the floor, Dray will get the spacing he wants and then live on the block like everyone wants. It all goes hand & hand.

Get NY on the floor with Wall & the starters and get Dray on the block. Dray will look very efficient and he will play harder that way. It forces you to be gougher. Then he's a very good passer who will be able to pass from there and out the double. It will free up the whole O. Not only that but how far is any team going to go without a post scorer? You cant win. Its nearly impossible. You have to have atleast 1 guy. Our best 2 guys by far at it are Dray & NY. One doesnt get it there and the other is on the bench.

Our team will look night & day when these 2 things happen. We will look like a real team for the 1st time. Then you can mix Dray's touches up with the inside/outside but start inside and put NY on the floor because it wont be enough space for him with JC out there. Go ahead & rip me or blame Dray but you cant fully judge him until that happens and you cant fully judge Wall or our team until that happens & NY is starting. I saw Dray get 1 touch on the block yesterday and he scored with ease, quickly. Only 1 touch

Is there anything more "Wizards fan experience" than Jan Vesely so far? Looks shockingly competent in the first preseason game, and has sat out injured since. Hope ------> injured despair. I'm seriously 2-3 weeks away from insanity.

Before the lockout, Saunders gave Blatche a book titled "The 17 Essential Qualities Of A Team Player." Blatche has said he read about half of it.

So let's see, Ted Leonsis has done nothing to change the culture with the Wizards, still keeps mediocre trash like Grunfield around, who keeps mediocre trash like Blatche around (even with an unused amnesty!), who hasn't made a SINGLE major organizational change in his tenure here, who keeps crap like Unseld Jr on the staff, who still afaik has the same medical staff (oh look, Ves just got injured) as before - meet the new boss, same as the old boss. We should have seen this coming - Leonsis was an insider, he was part of the dysfunctional crowd around Abe, and we should have expected that he wouldn't have taken the axe to this organization as should have been done.

The thing is he does not make organizational changes. If he was running the Skins, JC would be the QB, and Zorn would quite possibly be the coach.
