freak..Jefferson couldn't hit a dang thing..
CJ continues to suck... nice airball - did he hit a 3? Why does he keep shooting?
World peace posting up Howard does not work..
Cold night shooting. We'll get better...
Next game please.

That was the worst Jazz game I've ever watched. Just awful.

for a professional team to shoot in such a manner is pathetic. The way these guys played tonight they'd be lucky to make the JR Jazz.

You're right. We really do need to give it time. There will be lots of growing pains.
I think I would just rather see the rooks and sophs go through this pain than see Al Jefferson and Bell waste the time the rookies could be playing.
What is sad about the broadcast is we missed probably the only bright spot which was the start of the game by Favors.
Apparently he was doing well early getting a couple buckets with a nice slam and 3 rebounds as well. Then he got his 2 fouls. I read a few blogs that exist during the game saying "Favors is a beast, will be an all-star soon."
Then he got a few fouls and was pulled. The fouls were going for offensive rebounds.
I just hope that he learns how to avoid fouls more, or is left in more.
said it in another thread. 18 minutes for Favors

Ya, Favors needs to play more than 18 minutes; foul trouble or no foul trouble.
I still want to see more Jeremy Evans.
I'm giving CJ Miles one more week to figure it out, after that... I'm done with him.
How bad was Harris??? Has he totally lost it mentally? He was MIA from the very beginning of the game.

This was the alley oop we missed early on because the Heat game went long.

Anyway, tomorrows game can't come soon enough. I hope it goes better.

Harris and Jefferson are terrible. Can they improve from (tonights) awful to mediocre? probably, and I hope so cause that's the only way we can trade them for anything of value. Honestly, i feel fine about tonight's result because I have been in the tanking camp for awhile. We have some great complementary players, but we still need a homerun in the draft. Two things OKCs model has that we don't:
-a complete commitment to rebuilding (a 20 win season). Not this directionless BS we currently have.
-2 top 10-12 players (we maybe have one in favors, and that's a long ways off). You need superstars (does anyone watch the playoffs?), absent that, at least several borderline superstars (but definite all stars). We can't bet on being the lone exception to this (04 pistons, a historical down year I might add).
I like what KOC has as done, but I need him to give this team some direction and a future by completely committing to rebuilding by trading our vets (I'm ok doing this later when hopefully their trade value is higher).
Yes it's only been one game. But I've thought this for awhile, it's not based on this game but my subjective analysis of Jefferson and Harris' flaws, and the likelihood of various members of our core reaching their upside. If Harris and Jefferson aren't in our long term plans, why keep them around. They only hog minutes, stunt our young players development, and worsen our draft pick (although not by much if they keep playing this bad). They could potentially be some asset like a draft pick if KOC plays his cards right. Or they could walk for nothing later on.

Al Jefferson is a 6th man, and Ty Corbin isn't an NBA coach. Nothing new IMO, but hopefully this rammed it home.

Had to chuckle at Al and CJ's combined shooting. Just left waiting, wondering if the jazz will finally realize these guys aren't worth diddly poo.

25 points behind? Its gonna be a long season.
Oh, wait. There will be only 66 games.
I dont think it was because their first game. Our team is not good, lets not fool ourselves.

It's a first game with a non experienced coaches and a bunch of sophomore and rookies vs a former champs team.
It's a bad loss, but if something has to change... better now.
If not it's time to Hornacek to step up. He was a more respected and a better IQ player than Corbin.

Re: Season Opener: Utah Jazz (0-0) @ Los Angeles Lakers (0-2
The Jazz seriously need to get into their offense a lot faster...... By the time they set up they had 10 seconds or less left on the shotclock...... That's Harris' fault...... Pure and simple...... Doesn't mean I want him traded after one game, but it's something he needs to address....... In a perfect situation, we would deal Harris for expiring contract and have Watson/Tinsley run the show...... Not because they are going to be so much better, but Harris doesn't look like the answer at the point, so what's the point of paying him for 2 more years?
Why did Bell get 25 minutes? Unless they are showcasing him for a trade, that better not happen again.......
At least there was one positive, Kanter is not afraid to rebound the ball...... Now if he could just work on his finishing skills around the basket........

On the radio this morning they are saying it is the lowest scoring total by the Jazz in a season opener in franchise history. Way to go guys...

I watched only the first half, but I think that despite all of the mistakes and poor shooting their were a lot of positives. The first was obviously Kanter's performance, having someone who can rebound off the bench is pretty big. Millsap played decent as well, although I wasn't impressed by his shot selection. Jefferson didn't really take any bad shots - he just got mobbed in the post. The Gasol block was a perfect example. He had four offensive rebounds, so he certainly was giving effort. I have no clue why our shots weren't falling, the floor spacing wasn't ideal, but 32% is really bad. Had we even shot 42% we would have had at least 89 points, I don't think we can possibly shoot that bad over the course of an entire season. Harris looked really bad again, hopefully he gets it figured out; but for now I am on the trade Devin bandwagon.
