We have the wrong coach for this team. Reggie Miller even said last night during the telecast that he didnt know why the Jazz dont try to fast break after every basket made or not made, and Corbin's response was that he wanted to run but also have a half court game...and Reggie Miller thought Why? I agree times have changed in Utah. We have an extremely young extremely athletic team that can run the court but doesnt run the court enough and seems to be thinking too much on the court. We need a Paul Westpaul/fast breaking system and NOT Corbin, a Sloan guy, who may want to run on occasion when its there. I say run whether it is there or not. We CANNOT score in the half court offense. Figure out the half court during next years training camp not during this season.
In one of my previous maligned posts I said that there are 1287 lineup combinations with 13 players. Corbin seems to be trying them all. I agree so much mix and match is a problem. The team won't get continuity, coordination or a harmonious rhythm if he keeps switching around. That bothers me.
On the issue of not running last night. That's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. I agree the Jazz can run with Harris, Favors and Hayward in the lineup. But I would do it with Hayward at the 2 and CJ in the 3.
I saw two very clear reasons for not running last night.
1. Running can hurt a shaky defense.
2. 6 games in 8 days with late night trip to Denver. Getting in a 4 am makes recovery for a 7 pm (Utah time) game tough.
Even if the Jazz had run they would not have beaten the Lakers. At least not last night.
As far as changing coaches go, that won't happen until 2013 at the earliest, and probably not until 2014. So buckle up.
