Why would we go back to draft scouting reports? He's entering his 7th year in the league. What Draft Express thought of him then has no relevance to Blatche now. He is what he is at this point.

And, I agree with Dat. Blatche was never an eye-popping athlete. Kwame was. Not Blatche.

Blatche is a decent shooter when his feet are set but whenever he puts the ball on the ground for a pull up jumper his accuracy drops dramatically.

Having blatche moving for a catch and shoot isn't the same as blatche standing perfectly still and waiting for a wide open kick out with no hand in the face.

Pick and Pop has blatche moving as he catches as pass and requires him to reset his feet and blatche doesn't have enough arc ) (nor does he have the athletic hang time to alter in his shot midair to account for momentum changes going left right or forward) in his shot to consistently alter his shot to account for the small changes in momentum based on how wild the pass is from a guard requiring him to stretch, shuffle feet and shoot.
in a half court set, Wall really is not really effective because he doesn't have offensive moves other than falling to the ground after attempting to use his speed to get into the paint.
If we don't have fast court break, the ball should immediately be dropped into the post and wall has to show he can hit a wide open jump shot from the top of the key consistently because his man is leaving him to go double blatche.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

That scouting report was made 2 years ago, from summer league.

Hi, I'm Javale McGee, summer league legend.

Count me in with Tontoz, dat, and co. Blatche has some ability, mostly some skill (or rather, the potential for skill) but he was never a great athlete. Decent I would say. Combine that with his length and "skills" and its easy to see why some people may have been misled. But at no point was his first step "elite". Guys like Bosh and Amare, now those are elite first steps. Combined with their explosiveness and shooting touch, that is why they are premier players in the NBA.

The point that most of the rest of us were trying to make wasn't that Blatche used to be a great athlete. It's that - because he hasn't taken care of his body - he's clearly and demonstrably less athletic than he used to be. For example, he USED to be able to jump over a phone book.

Anybody else find it amusing that the Blatche appreciation thread has essentially turned into the amazingly sucky thread?

Heck, I'd say Blatche is probably more gifted, but above the shoulders Love is so far ahead of Blatche that it's actually an insult to compare the two.

I think that is a pretty good description.

Do we not have an "amazingly sucky" thread for Blatche?

Yes, but who are we kidding at this point. It doesn't really matter anymore.

2-13 with 4 rebounds and no foul shot attempts. I think he needs a uniform change for the next game.

He had one attempt, and missed it.

I was hoping we could feed him the ball early this season to fluff up his numbers so that he can be tradeable. If past 2 games are any indication, I doubt any team would pick him up. I believe he's still due $7million/ year for next 3 years after this one...crazy.

I'm afraid it's too late for that dobrojim. How do you get through to a young man that's been given chance after chance after chance.

This franchise has enabled, almost encouraged his poor behavior and attitude. How do you get through to a guy that's almost been killed, had repeated run ins with the law and still doesn't appreciate the tremendous opportunity he's been given?

It's not likely going to happen with this organization if ever. It's really that simple. As sad it sounds, but at this point the only way he's going to change is if he gets everything taken away from him.

If Flip or Grunfeld had any balls they would just deactivate him and lit him sit in street clothes.

Oh I agree. When you are a decent athlete at best and then lose your athleticism you become, well, what Andray Blatche is now.

yeah i am starting to get annoyed with him too. He really needs to stop all that finesse in the paint. He needs to start initiating contact to neutralize his opponents athleticism.
None of Blatche's post moves are based on him initiating contact before he shoots the ball. He is way to non athletic to expect to live in the post or the perimeter without using his body to give him an advantage.
He should be knocking dudes off balance by ramming is shoulder into his opponents chest before attempting a soft fade away into the paint.

He is way to non athletic to expect to be a successful powerforward without being aggressive physically. His advantage is that he has powerful legs but can't jump so he needs to bang in order to neutralize his opponents athletic advantage. all that reverse crap needs to stop, he should shoot that ball into he he knows he has knocked his defender off balance. He better start studying carlos boozer because both of them are floor bound.
He also better learn to plant his feet in one spot and demand that his guards to pass the ball perfectly on a kick out so that he doesn't have to move his feet otherwise he will more than likely miss the shot if he has to put the ball on the floor.
If Blatche can't get more than a foot of the ground on his shot attempts, he needs to acknowledge that he is bench player. A finese big should be able to at least get 2 feet off the ground on each shot attempt. Watch Blatche's feet and the guy barely gets off the ground in the paint..maybe a 12 inches.
He needs to really do some box jumps with a weight vest. No spring in his legs.

According to Chris Broussard, the Wizards are looking to trade Blatche to Chipotle

BTW, it is really cathartic to go to twitter, and read all the tweets about Andray Blatche - the best part is he's most certainly read most of these. For those not familiar, go here (switch the toggle from "top" tweets to "all"):

http://twitter.com/#!/search/%40drayblatche

My favs so far:

- "hey @drayblatche who you gonna blame this game on? Coach? Teammates? Refs? Reporters? Your out of shape body? Mental weakness? Or Twitter?"

- "clearly the Bullets need to get @drayblatche the ball in the post more, since he was 2 of 7 in the paint tonight"

- "Will your next be in a jersey that doesn't say "Wizards" on it? RT @drayblatche Letting go of last game and focused on the next"

- "Yea he needs to start over lazy @drayblatche RT @WillPizzano: @C_SING31 keep working hard man. Hope to see you starting soon. #Wizards"

- "@drayblatche if Dray was 3 in shorter, he'd be flipping burgers at McDonalds. #worstplayerinthenba"

- "@drayblatche - way to back up your b!tching with another lame game. sure it was the coach's fault again..."

- "@drayblatche way to put the team on your back. Get your bum ass out of washington #anotherdayanotherloss"

- "maybe its time u stop making excuses for urself and admit ur lazy and will never put in the time or effort to be a good player @drayblatche"

- "@drayblatche ur the biggest waste of space playing for a sports team in this city I have ever seen...& that's saying a lot. #FakeAssCaptain"
