For me, it's obvious.

Potential talent that would cost us virtually nothing. I'm a cheap SOB

The talent level doesn't justify the amount of interest.

Only 9 posters actually commented. shrink will offer his insight in any trade proposal as will the Spaniards when Vazquez's name is mentioned. The only people who are clearly interested are shrink and me. lobishome and shangrila we're against the idea, and everyone else didn't clearly say which side of the fence they were on.

Furthermore, I don't think it's too much attention for a guy who is a veteran, plays a position of need, and can be acquired for virtually nothing.

Fran Vazquez doesn't love the game of basketball. He had a lot of potential, but he is already 28yo and is simply nothing special. Tiago Splitter was MUCH more dominant in the ACB than Vazquez has ever been. I wouldn't even give a 2ndo round pick for his rights.

If he actually would come over and play he would be worth at least a 2nd, but who knows. If Rubio's agent can see where his head is, and let Kahn know that he is a sure thing, then he has a bit more value... that said, I don't think he has any interest or he'd already be over here playing.

There's probably been at least a dozen Vazquez related threads since we drafted Ricky.

How? They've never played together, and quite possibly have never met.

BTW anyone else think Greivis Vasquez when they saw the thread?

yes, already had a bunch of reasons prepared for why not to do it.

on another note isn't it a bad sign this guy never wanted to come over? scurred? or just didn't think it was worth it? either way... not a good look.

All of which were started by me, muahahaha

Anyway, this argument we have isn't even interesting. It's all subjective and we're just going to stick to our guns on this one.

I not sure Fran fits to the NBA and he isn't dominant here.

He looks more like a power forward, but he plays more like a center. Not going to provide a lot of help on offense, but could be worth trading a first round pick if he can rebound and block shots.

Even if his commitment to playing in the NBA wasn't an issue, he still was drafted too early. I still think he's a viable option, but now I'm not so sure I want to trade players anymore.

Vazquez style is more suited for the NBA. Unlike what is happening in Barcelona, in the NBA you'd never see Lorbek starting over Vazquez. Vazquez is not suited for a static offense. Sala was starting over Rubio for the same reason last season.
