I do like a few players(positions, roles) better but, if that's how it played out, it would be easy to get behind MKG once he got onto the court. Plays like an animal.

Sorry, I didn't mean 2013 lineup, I meant future lineup, though 2013 is in the future obviously.

MKG was on another planet today. Keep in mind he usually guards the oppositions' point guards, so he's not playing SF defensively. And he had only one minute of rest. That's just a ridiculous game for a freshman to have.

Yeah, he was really, really impressive today. He's still going to be 18 at the draft too. Given his work ethic/demeanour -- and the fact that I think he's the type to kill in workouts and interviews -- I get the sense he'll be the first non-big taken in the draft.

Consensus of this board, perhaps, but not yet the mock drafts.

My take is that today is a great day for the Raptors because several of the high end prospects did more than just flash the occasional brilliance in their strongest area. Today, Kidd-Gilchrist, Drummond, Davis, etc, showed game-changing abilities against good opponents. That's very encouraging for the depth of this draft. If we ended up, say, fifth again, we might not do much worse than the team drafting first overall.

Calling St. John's a good opponent is like calling the Toronto Raptors a good NBA team.

They are #143 in KenPom. 63 rd out of 74 BCS Conference Teams.

They have a smurf lineup (with only one 4 sized player and no 5 sized player in the rotation), they do not have enough scholarship players to fill a rotation. Basically they have seven players with No NCAA experience, and I believe their seventh man is a non scholarship player.

MKG is a nice player but is he franchise player material? I don't know. I feel there are only 2 players in this draft with that label. The two top bigs. And Andre Drummond will certainly be a project.

Who would go in the top 5 as of today?

1. Davis
2. Drummond
3. Perry Jones
4. Kidd-Gilchrist
5. Harrison Barnes/Jeremy Lamb??

Who am I forgetting? Quincy Miller and Jared Sullinger (especially if Washington is picking 4 or 5) could play themselves into the top 5 mix as well, but that's what the top 5 is looking like imo.

Or, is it too early to tell?

For the last time. For the very last time. Barnes is not just a spot up shooter.

For the last time, he's been neither efficient nor effective with his other moves.

This is complete BS. He's proven his ability to shoot off the dribble. This is something Gilchrist has yet to do.

the ADs have franchise label, yea Drummond might take 3-4 years to pan out. Davis will be an instant impact but won't put up big time numbers in 1st season cos of his chicken arms.

Even if MKG isn't franchise player level, he's at best could pan out to be Gerald Wallace type. He's going to impact the game in many different ways. It'd be amazing to have Val and MKG on our team as both are highly competitive, high motor and intense guys that would only do more good than harm for our team.

I'm hoping MKG would host a "breakfast club" with our guys ...that'd be a good way to have our team communicate with one another because we lacking that from our guys this season. And holy, if Bargs stays on this team, think of all the rebounds MKG and Val would get :o Having MKG on this team will change the defensive dynamic of this team. His rookie year might show inconsistent defense but once he pans out offensive and defensively, he'll be locking down the opponent team's best wing every game. :D

Id say he's played his way into the top 5

Davis
Drummond

Lamb
MKG

Jones 3
Barnes
Beal

Miller
Sullinger
The rest

IMO you are underrating Sullinger. He wouldn't make sense for us, but the guy is going to be a 20-10 player, and a pure post scorer. Those guys are a rare commodity these days. I see the draft as

TOP TIER
Davis
Drummund

2ND TIER
Lamb
MKG
PJ3
Sullinger
Barnes

As long as we get one of Lamb/MKG I'll be happy, I'm not sure who I like better though.

MKG has everything, but despite the percentages, that jumpshot is broken. Lamb has superstar potential IMO, but MKG is going to be an all-star despite the broken jumper...

D.C really needs a change in the 4. Blatche is the biggest cancer to this team, get Sully and amnest Blatche, that I think will make Wall happy.

I never saw him in college, but how does Davis compare to Tim Duncan at Wake? (Freshman year) I remember watching a LOT of UMASS and he is much more fluid then Camby was.

Would Duncan have gone number 1 over Iverson that year? I remember Iverson being the most dynamic unstopable player (to this date) I've ever seen in college.

Yes. I think Duncan would have gone number 1 even after his sophomore year in fact

Dunno bout y'all, but MKG got that "swagger" if you know what I mean. Not too many guys have that.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Meyers Leonard has a very good chance of going top 5 or even 3rd overall

7 foot and long uber athletic C, averaging a 13 pts/8 rbs/2.5 blks, is a top 5 efficiency guy in the NCAA with 62%/73% FT, is a born in 92 sophmore, good attitude

Draft is extremely kind to players with that above the rim C physical talent + shotblocking and finishing package. We took JVal 5th because it's that hard to find a starting C and I expect Leonard gets the more treatment, but as a more athletic player and NCAA guy maybe has an advantage over JVal

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about him. I could definitely see him being a high draft choice. Good call.

no chance he goes top 3, would be shocked if he is a top 10 pick. he's good, but he's not a top 10 talent.

Projection Mid to Late First Round Pick
Positives
Long, athletic big man
Runs the floor well
Quick for a big guy
Solid scorer around the basket
Very good defensive presence in the post
Good rebounder and shot blocker
Negatives
Struggled as a freshman
Needs more focus and concentration
Needs to add strength

Just watch. I wish there were Vegas odds on draft picks cause I'd lay money on the athletic/defensive big men projects making the leap every year. TT wasn't lotto a month before the draft and a 7 foot TT is an entirely different animal. Lot of teams like Detroit, Sac, Cleveland, New Orleans with one of their 2 picks, maybe Washington after another year of McGee's failure, have young perimeter players but need a franchise 7 footer and would go the upside center route after the first 2 picks methinks

I think the biggest thing hurting Leonard's hype is he's a goofy looking white kid. Otherwise he's getting called Tyson Chandler 2
