2k11 vs 2k12: What are the significant changes?

Post#1 » by DV1990 » Sat Dec 31, 2011 7:23 pm

Personally, I get the game to play against my friends/my player (although not really anymore my player), so the campaign/association isn't really a big plus for me (I don't have the time to play a whole season out lol). Is 12 just a 11 recycle for the most part or what? Greatly appreciate the input if ya'll can help out.

It's worth the buy in my opinion, everything seems to be slightly improved, although the online will always be ruined because people just abuse star players who can't be stopped.

I'd only buy it for 40. I got it as a gift and 2K always seems to take one step forward and two steps back. They improve on some things but take out good features. And yeah there's a lot of cheesers online. My Player is improved significantly but if you just play against your friends, it's worth a purchase.

The ability to almost indiscriminately hit contested 3's is a problem the likes of which I haven't seen since 2k8/2k9.

if u got 2k11, dont buy 2k12, its just not worth it, skip 2k12 and get 2k13 next year, if its better, right now 2k11 ist way better than 2k12.

The dribbling system is harder, which I like - but there's still ways to cheese. Defense is harder. You HAVE to play as the defender if you want to contest a shot at the right time, as the CPU will NOT do that for you; if it's a superstar, they'll still make it or get a foul.

If you master the releases of any said shooter it's nearly impossible to stop them shooting (and making) threes. I think anything before 2k11 I could literally make 10 or so threes with any decent 3pt shooter. Had like 15 or so threes with dirk just to make sure. I hit 33 three point shots with daniel gibson on my friend in 2k9 haha. Total joke. I always play as the defender though else it's no fun. I do play against the CPU as well though, HoF difficulty is infuriating with the steals it gets on me.

sorry for the double post but just wondering if it's just my connection or is there a discrepancy between the real-time releases of players (including FT's) and that of online play? It's almost never accurate.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I play 2k11 instead. 2k12 is terrible, not worth a single penny. Yeah, those post moves is nice, but every else is worse, its so bad its unplayable...

i got 2k11, but from what i heard its too easy to score in 2k12. the bumping animation is taken out or severely reduced, but it also lets u get a layup w/ little to no contact

I agree the post moves is stupid, I can't even post with the Y button that well. I like the post moves on 2k11 it's way better. Can't wait for 2k13 though

Didn't bother buying the game because I knew it wouldn't be all that different. I'll wait until like 2K15 to buy another one, otherwise it's a waste of money for me.

You guys are crazy; I can't stand playing old video games - especially, sports games. Buy the new 2k, you get the rookies, and roster updates. I was a little disappointed with the game, too, but it's nice to play with the updated teams.

2k11 is better, higher skill gap.

Defense was a little hard in 2k11, but it promoted players to take good shots.

Defense in 2k12 is so difficult, maybe its lag or the online, but 2k11 is light years beyond 2k12.

The game was ruined when they started to put animation frames above playability. Don't know if 2k12 is any better but it started to feel like you had no control anymore. Took too long to stop and too long to get going, was like playing in mud.

2k12 has serious problems with pick and roll..
