Tyreke Evans looks awful from and outsider.
I have been watching the Kings on the Ticket for the first three games because I wanted to check out Jimmer, Tyreke and Cousins. I have to say Tyreke looks terrible! He never runs the floor, he forces shoots and he has been just awful. He doesn't even go for rebounds, What's going on with him?

He's a selfish, lazy player...not much more.

Agreed coming from a Kings fan. Too bad his trade value is declining every minute he's on the floor.

Well he runs the floor....when he has the ball.
But yeah, he's pissing a lot of us off. This last game wasn't him though. It was everybody.

Re: Tyreke Evans looks awful from and outsider.
This isn't a problem with Tyreke Evans. This is a problem that we have far too many scorers on the roster and not enough roleplayers. I have long maintained that Paul Westphal's ability to define roles on this team has been horrid. This however just takes the cake. Tyreke is just doing what Westphal wants, and he looks passive and incapable because of it.
I'm already tired of this so called system that Westphal has implemented forcing square pegs into round holes. There needs to be a certain point in time where the coach has to realize who the best shot creators on the team are and put them in a position to succeed. I'm looking at the team and seeing ungodly amounts of confusion.
Westphal is really wearing out his welcome here. Seriously have no idea what he's trying to implement. He needs to simplify things and define some roles. It needs to be Reke, Thornton and Cousins doing most of the playmaking. Instead we have some kind of offense-by-committee system trying to force natural gunners like Reke and Thornton to become pass-first. That is not our talent and will not win us ballgames.

I'm a Rocket fan. I'm sad to let Hayes go, but glad he got paid. Not sure how he would help, I agree with kings fans with their concern that Hayes is no scoring threat on the offensive end. They would double your star players. Which is a negative effect hayes has on the offensive. Especially with no definitive pass first PG on your team. Will be tough for any team to add Hayes. But hayes is a beast against paul pierces, Marc gasols, Z-bo's of the league.
I mentioned what the OP had said last season, that Reke's more concerned with his stats than wins. Then i was called a troll. But I think that Reke demands the ball on his hands too much to be effective. But he's a great finisher last season. Will form an opinion when i have time to watch a kings game. But Kings have some great young players this season. Jimmer fredette and Cousins and the scoring threat of Reke, salmons. They should do better as the season progresses.

He looks awful from the perspective of an insider as well. He's good at one thing and one thing only--driving to the basket. Foul him, he'll miss the free throws; put a good defensive player on him or double team him, he'll brick a jumper; give him the ball on a 3-on-1 fast break, he'll make sure no points come out of it. His best year was and will always be his rookie year. I'm just glad we are seeing his true colors before we have the chance to max him out. A slow point guard with tunnel vision who can't shoot...that's just great.

Hayes has actually shown some nifty one on one moves and consistently beats his man off of the spin and drive, hasn't finished it well but tonight he did because he went up and laid it in with both hands. Doubling hasn't been a problem really, it's the single coverage from which nobody is moving or cutting. Tonight when the Knicks did double is when Cousins racked up a few assists. The only player having a hard time with the double is Fredette but that's because once again, nobody is in a known position right now, that will have to take time.
I don't think Reke is more concerned about stats considering he's taking very few shot attempts, but he is concerned with creating something even when it's not there. Another nice cut for Reke tonight, that's two games in a row. Just going to take time and the more minutes they get the more they'll get used to eachother.

Re: Tyreke Evans looks awful from and outsider.
It is the coach,
He has had enough time to develop these young guys for a few years and very little improvements have been made. The offense period looks bad, not just Tyreke. Fire Westphaul and try to salvage the season, or keep one of the lowest paid coaches and teams, hit the lotto and move to Anaheim.

Re: Tyreke Evans looks awful from and outsider.
And from another outsider...
How about a Evans/Cousins trade for DeRozan/Davis with Toronto? Give up your headcases with probably more talent, for younger, saner players.
Toronto is off to a slow start, rebuilding next year anyways, and showcasing Bargs right now to build value before trading him. It might be perfect timing for scooping their so called 'future' in DD/Davis.
On the other hand, just how Fing nuts are Evans/Cousins? Would your GM pounce if TO offered this?

No. Tyreke is not a headcase, and if anything he and Tyreke don't fit that well together.

I think that was the problem from the very beginning. TYREKE EVANS IS NOT A POINT GUARD. He is in reality a 2/3 physically. The only reason why we put Tyreke at the point in the first place is because we already had Kevin Martin starting at the 2. And even though we ultimately traded Martin, Tyreke was still stuck at the 1 in a foolish attempt to create mismatches AT that position, not because he ever WAS an especially great point guard. The fact that we picked up another true shooting guard in Thornton only further complicates our lineup because since we've established Reke as a "point guard" for so long, we couldn't start a TRUE point guard without bumping Tyreke over. We're obviously not going to BENCH him, so the only other place would be 3, but then he would lose his size and strength advantage.
Ultimately, the problem is not that Tyreke is a bad point guard, it's that we've been forcing him to play out of position for his whole career. He's not a point guard/playmaker, he's a Lebron-ish scorer who bullies his way to the basket off of his brute strength. That's who he is. He may never be a Ray Allen, but I think we have enough shooters on this team to where he doesn't necessarily have to be. He will improve though.
