Bynum was "injured" so to speak but he did play during the back to back championship runs. Just having his body out there and moving Pau to his natural position warrants Bynums contributions...

Do you honestly believe that the Lakers would've won those 2 titles without Bynum?

ARE YOU KIDDING US RIGHT?? Or you didnt watch the last 4 years of basketball. Bynum was injured in 2008, 2009 and 2010 playoffs, and Pau Gasol did play as a center and PF, fighting basically alone against the Celtics froncourt, and Howard in 2009.

Oh the irony.

Pau Gasol didnt have a good back up center in the Lakers championship runs. In 2008 they lost against Boston, and the Lakers frontline was odom.gasol and turiaf. In 2009, Bynum played the finals, but he was unhealthy. Gasol did a great job against Howard, and odom help him very well. In 2010, Bynum got injured in the middle of the finals, and he played basically injured.

Drew definitely helped out more in 2010 than he did in 2009 no doubt, but he still averaged 19-20 Mpg against Orlando which was 19-20 minutes Gasol got to match up with Lewis instead of Howard.

In 2010 Bynum played hurt, but he still played, and his being out there put Garnett and Wallace on Gasol instead of Perkins whom he struggled against in '08. No one is saying that Drew did it all by himself, but he was a very large contributing factor and it's absurd to suggest that "Gasol was basically alone against the Celtics' frontcourt", especially since Odom also played some big minutes for LA up front as well.

Yesterday Bargnani just scored 27 points on 18 shots, I guess that means Orlando would be lucky to get him for Dwight as well.

Don't know why people are shocked at Bynum's play. He's always shown the ability to produce big numbers.

That wasn't the concern with him. The concern is his consistency, immaturity and injury prone body.

A healthy Bynum always had the potential to be a shared first option next to Kobe. A healthy Bynum however, is like Easter on mondays. It's never bound to happen.

No honest objective NBA fan is in shock..The ones who are downgrading bynum's potential are bias fans with agendas thinking that they need to sway the opinions of REALGM to their side in order to convince Otis Smith to trade howard to their preferred destination..

Toronto would've been lucky if they had Bynum. That's all that means.

You are ignoring so many different factors that it renders your argument useless and illogical.

First, Bynum's first two seasons are not a reflection of the player that he is today. He played very few minutes which affected his career rebounding numbers. Since his third season when he started getting more minutes, he has averaged about 8.8 RPG.

Second, why are you ignoring the fact that he has played with two other 7 footers his entire career? Common sense tells you that has an impact on the amount of rebounds that he grabs. With Lamar gone this year, I have no doubt that he averages over 10 RPG. In fact, I would not be surprised to see him get close to 12 RPG.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Grant Hill is truly a likeable guy, Bynum not so much. I think thats why people root for him and not so much because he is a Laker.

So had Bynum been playing for the San Antonio Spurs, we'll still see posters embedding pic of Bynum grimacing on the floor holding his knee in pain on a night where he had a good game? Yeah, right.
Not buying it.

Bynum is a stud when he is healthy. We saw that the last half of last year and he picked right up where he left off after the suspension.

If he is healthy I think he is the Best center in the west. Thats the tough part though, we always have to qualify it with "if he's healthy."

Hopefully he can stay healthy, because I would like to see what he does with the increased role and more touches.

If he stays healthy and is the #2 option he'll obviously have a career year. But can we wait until he's played more than 1 game before crowning him the second best C, or idiotically better than Dwight.

Mantra of this thread : "If he stays healthy"

Big IF. But when he is, he's a baller - no doubt about it.
