Record Breakers!

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Sun Jan 1, 2012 10:03 pm

Mentioned this in the GT for the week. This season has been ridiculous. Lots of records were broken. What players or teams that you're a fan of or just that you know of broke a record?

I'll start with the Patriots,
-Rob Gronkowski set the tight end receiving record with 1,327 receiving yards.
-Rob Gronkowski also set the TD record for tight ends, ending up with 17 TD's.
-Bill Belichick sets a coaching record with the only coach to have 5 seasons of 13+ wins.

This is a braggart type of thread, but who cares. Ohara, tell us all of newtons records :P !

I believe the Niners set a record for games in a row not allowing a 100 yard rusher, along with no rushing TDs in a row, before Seattle broke it (or they tied the record). Aldon Smith just missed the rookie sack record by .5

First season ever having at least 3 QB's with over 5,000 yards.

Thanks Roger Goodell.

Rodgers set a bunch of records, notably the single season QB rating. Could've broken 51 tds too if he had played. Not a record but Driver also passed 10,000 yards in his career.

I think Welker is also the 2nd person after Chris Carter with 140 or something receptions for two seasons. Great player

To add to that Matt Flynn set a Packer record with 480 yards passing and 6 TD's in a game.

You left off Brady and Bill setting the record for most Head Coach-QB wins

Saints set a franchise record for margin of victory against the Colts 62-7
Not a record, but Freeney reached 100 career sacks
I think Donald Brown set the record for longest run from scrimmage (80 something)

I am sure there are others, I will report back

David Akers for most FG made and attempted in a season.
I think Andy Lee broke the record for net punt too but don't quote me on that one.

Somebody needs to mention Jared Allen's 22 sacks, a team record and a half sack short of the record.
