If we can pull out of January with a winning record..

Post#1 » by theGreatRC » Mon Jan 2, 2012 3:27 am

..What are the chances we can make the playoffs?

Look at some of the teams we are playing:

Jan 2: Spurs
Jan 4: Grizzlies (No Randolph is probable)
Jan 6: Cavaliers
Jan 8: @Wizards
Jan 9: @Raptors
Jan 10: Bulls <- Third game in 3 nights against a top 3 defensive team in the league. Most likely a L
Jan 13: @Hornets
Jan 14: @Hawks
Jan 16: Kings
Jan 18: Pistons
Jan 20: @Clippers <- game is on ESPN btw
Jan 21: @Jazz
Jan 23: Rockets
Jan 25: @Mavericks
Jan 27: Spurs
Jan 29: Lakers
Jan 30: @Rockets

End of the month is pretty scary, but if we can win at least 11 or 12 of these games this month, we would be 13-10...To make things better, we won't see MIA again this year and we only play BOS, ORL, NYK once this year.

What do you guys think? I seriously think we play better under Adelman, it was so clear with Porter coaching against the Bucks. We play so much harder.

Honestly I'm trying to keep my enthusiasm and optimism in check...BUT I honestly feel like we are right on the verge of blowing up into a very tough team to beat. Young teams are capable of improving very quickly, like OKC a couple years ago, and I feel like we are almost at that point. So I will be completely ecstatic, but I won't be that surprised, if we finish January above .500

That said, we'll become a good team at home before we can expect to win many road games, so I'd have to look at how many of those games are road games....

I'm feeling pretty optimistic right now and can't wait to see us pick up wins against teams like DET, SAC, HOU, NO, but we have only finished out 1 of 4 games so far. I think realistically its going to take until at least mid-February/March before we start seeing winning in close games. We may still be years away from that. It doesn't just turn in a couple of games.

That schedule is brutal. I get why the league did it but I feel for the players having to play such a condensed schedule.

My optimistic scenario is them going 9-8 the rest of the January, which would be fantastic.

Before we talk about the playoffs we first have to see how our team plays on the road. At home we play with a lot of confidence. Hopefully, we do so on the road as well.

Edit: Conley has a sprained ankle. With him and Randolph probably out on Wednesdays game I feel comfortable that we can beat Memphis. It's still going to be tough, though.

tough end of the month, ok. 8-9 W would be really good. More wins than 9 would be awesome.
my personal not too optimistic bet is 9 W

W Jan 2: Spurs
L Jan 4: Grizzlies
W Jan 6: Cavaliers
L Jan 8: @Wizards
W Jan 9: @Raptors
L Jan 10: Bulls
L Jan 13: @Hornets
W Jan 14: @Hawks
L Jan 16: Kings
W Jan 18: Pistons
L Jan 20: @Clippers
W Jan 21: @Jazz
W Jan 23: Rockets
W Jan 25: @Mavericks <-- this third win in a row would be awesome! (maybe too much)
L Jan 27: Spurs
L Jan 29: Lakers
W Jan 30: @Rockets

ok... why not? i trust this team

Injury has to be a major concern with the combination of this ridiculous condensed schedule and the all out effort that Love gives each game. He potentially should miss a game or two just to keep him healthy throughout the season. And dare I say, THE PLAYOFFS!!

We can really kill two birds with one stone with wins against Memphis, hornets and Houston twice. I really hope we take those 4 games. Lowry scares me though, he's been playing at a star level this season.

I'll keep believing that this year is our year to make the Playoffs until there is no reason to believe.

I like your lists and would add Phoenix.

SO tired of watching Frye lob threes over Rambis's brutal no-perimeter-D scheme the last two years.
