Just an FYI, that approach to developing top ten picks has worked once in NBA history (T-Mac).

Andrew Bynum. That's 2.

I completely disagree. Do you think the Thunder would be where they are today, or that the young talent they have would be as good as it is today, if they spent 2-3 years playing 10-20 minutes a game?

Well, Idon't think Kanter should play more than 12 mins right now, as he needs to improve a couple of things to get those minutes up, and Favors is playing +20 minutes a night. I expect that number to increse to 25+ as the season and he progress. That's perfectly fine, not to mention anytime one of our guys go down, he'll get the bulk of the minutes. As of right now, Al should't play more than 30 mins, and Millsap shouldn't play more than 25 (you know how he gets worn down). That's plenty of minutes.

Bynum was the Lakers starting center by his second season in the NBA despite coming into the league at 17.

No he wasn't. He didn't become part of the rotation untill his 3rd year.

I can understand not giving the younger guys many minutes on a good team, but let's be honest: The Jazz are one of the worst teams in the NBA. They aren't going anywhere regardless, so what's the harm in giving the young guys minutes? Why limit Kanter to 12 minutes a game?

The Jazz aren't going to win very often this season either way, so we might as well get a head start on developing the players we expect to lead this team to greatness in the future.

Read my entire post please. Who cares if playing him more minutes causes the Jazz to lose more games in a year where they aren't making the playoffs anyways? May as well speed up his development.

But what's the difference between a 26-40 record while playing the young players limited minutes and a 22-44 record while developing the young players other than that the 22 win year allows you asses the young players and help them grow much better?

The difference is "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME". If playing X player more and Y player less gives the team the best chance to win, you DO THAT!! If Y is supposed to be better in the future, then he has to know that he has to work hard and earn the spot from player X (who is playing at a good level, or else he shouldn't play anyway), not be given to him and "to hell" with winning or not.

I like what Corbin is doing with everyone EXCEPT having that turd that is Raja Bell play, let alone start. And the biggest reason why I don't want Raja to play is because he hinders this teams ability to WIN GAMES. Not because he is "old" or because we should use his minutes to "develop" anyone else. But because anyone of the other players, young or not, in need of developing or already peaked, ARE WAY BETTER THAN HIM AT EVERYTHING!!!!!

But with Favors and Kanter? I think he's doing a good job giving them PT but also pushing them to constantly get better and help our team WIN!!

Yeah, tend to agree. This talk of guys needing to "earn" the minutes Bell is getting disregards the fact that Bell is playing so poorly on both ends that any swing man on our roster, including CJ Miles, is a better option at the 2.

I would rather adopt the OKC mentality which was "win, but you need to win with these guys on the floor"

Referring to playing Durant and WB.
