The Second Five Games

Post#1 » by weasel » Tue Jan 3, 2012 5:36 am

vs Memphis
vs Cleveland
at Washington
at Toronto
vs Chicago

As brutal as the opening five games were, we came out of it 2-3 and with all 3 losses being freakin close. It's almost surreal to think we were thisclose to being 5-0 in that stretch.

Now that we have our two-game winning streak, do we have a shot to push that up to a 6-game winning streak? Memphis is hurting. We should beat CLE, WAS, and TOR. Chicago is the back end our a back-to-back-to-back.

Chicago obviously the toughest game, with Memphis second. Both are at home though, which has been big. I could actually see us drop one of the road games, best guess is Toronto (Middle of b2b2b, looking ahead to Chicago)

I am hoping that we can go 4 and 1 in our next five games. But I am thinking will go 3 and 2 and be at 5 and 5 after our first ten games.Which I would still be very happy about.

bty I love this team don't know if were playoff bound just yet, thought before the year we had and out side shot at the eight set.But even a ten to fifteen game improvement over last year would be a huge turn point and a good season in my book.

Who's going to guard Rose? Wesley? Going to be an interesting game.

I think Rubio played against him in the Olympics(?) a couple years ago.

I'm optimistic. We're going to win 4 of those games. Not trying to rip on Memphis, but if Z-Bo isn't playing, I can't see them winning.

I seem to remember Memphis making fools of us last year with fast break dunk after fast break dunk. That is the game I want to win the most. We should beat the Wiz, Raptors, and Cavs. Chicago is going to be tough.

It will be fun to see Rubio play against some of the other top young PG - Wall, Irving, and Rose.

Wizards look absolutely terrible. Raptors are bad, Cavs are pretty bad. Chicago is really good though.

Memphis usually murders us, but if they are out Conley/Z-bo I'd feel pretty confident.

I've read Conley might be ready to go on today's matchup against the Kings.

Kings play us on a back-to-back.

Hopefully the Kings give them a hard fought, close game so we can come out running on them on wednesday.

Any word on Randolph?

I hope we frustrate and piss Cousins off and he winds up choke slamming his coach through the announcers table. What a spectacle.

If we go 4-1 that would be incredible. I don't see a world where we can beat one of the best teams in the league at the end of a three games in three days run. The Bulls are good and incredibly consistent.

What will be interesting to see is what overall records look like this year. To think that we could play to 5-5 (if we are really lucky) makes me think there are probably a lot of teams that are going to drop close games with such little rest and so many injuries. I wonder if we will see a bunch of parity in the standings with teams struggling to break free from the pack.

Case and point: both OKC and the Heat lost tonight. Dallas takes an ass-whooping from us last night and comes back to beat the Thunder.

These five games mean so much to our young team right now. I sure hope we can find a way to be .500 or better by the end of January. Someone with a better knowledge of the schedule could probably confirm/deny this, but I have to think this is going to be our easiest stretch of games this season with our only real top-tier opponent coming against CHI (which is still at home).

one thing that helps our chances that I noticed last night. When we put in our second unit and the Spurs did the same I smiled and thought: "ha, our 2nd unit is wayyyy better than yours"

we also seem to have a great core of guys with our injured/no minutes guys being Pek, Martell and Brad. I loved this tweet from Martell last night
@MartellWebster: City of Minneapolis You all are making this city jump again. We appreciate the support so far. We live for electricity you bring to the game

I also love that last year we also had the Spurs number but we always kept it close enough that we would lose in the end, not this time.

Mark my words if the Wolves go .500 or above even if it is for a short time, I'm officially requesting apologies for David Kahn

I think we will be 5-5, and I'd be very satisfied with that. I'd say we split Memphis and Toronto, lose to Chicago, and beat Cleveland and Washington. I'd like to have more faith against the Raps, but they've played better than I had expected to this point and our first road game went so poorly.

Toronto is playing pretty well right now, so I could see that being close. Memphis if Randolph is out should be an easy win, but that's still an if. Washington and Cleveland should be easy wins, as long as we don't play down to their level like we tended to do last season.

Chicago I would just go ahead and pencil in as a loss, although that could be a good thing. Considering that would likely be a loss no matter when we played them, to get them on the end of a back to back to back is probably the best case scenario, all things considered.

:wavefinger: 2008 Beijing. American PGs : Jason Kidd, Derrick Williams and Chris Paul,

He played against Rose two years ago in a friendly match for prepare the 2010 WC and Ricky did well. I remember Love was in your NT, but he didn't play or only played few minutes. It was the first meet of Love and Rubio, talking and laughin' before the game.

I think Ricky and Derek didn't play anymore because Spain was ejected in quarters. :x

IMO Rubio must be our man for guard Rose.

4-1, this team is playing incredible basketball. Good timing for the b2b2b.
