Josh Smith

Post#1 » by BIG EDDIE » Tue Jan 3, 2012 1:50 pm

I havent watched any Hawks games this season so far, but I have just noticed, that Josh Smith is not getting as much playing time as usual. Is there a reason for that?

Also, what do you think of a possible trade of Josh Smith+Teague for Russell Westbrook?
This came up on an OKC board and I was interested what Hawks fans think of this.

^ Hawks got alot of depth on the bench. last nigh in Miami, they had 10 guys who had 10 minutes or more of playing time

it is not just Josh,..... Horford, Joe, Marvin, and Teague are all averaging less than 30mpg

like Baseline33 said it's because of our great deph; and as for the trade It's a no for me: Teague is playing great right now and is loaded with potential, meanwhile Josh is a great player who is our defensive anchor and who is a great trade chip. I like Westbrook but he'll destroy the team's chemistry and take most of the shots like he does in OKC. He's a shooting guard playing in a Point Guard's body.

Our games are so close together that there's less time to rest. We have to play our bench or wear our starters out. The HOU game was an example of what we look like when we're gassed.

The trade is interesting but I really like Teague and I really distrust Westbrook. Besides, we only have the resources to make one big deal, so we have to save all our assets for any possible trade for a Center.

Josh Smith is a blockhead.

I love Josh.... He's my favored player on this team, but he is a blockhead! He'll vey high basketball IQ on three plays in a row, then make a boneheaded play. Blockhead, brain fart ?? You still gotta love the guy on our team.

my only problem with josh smith is he refuses to give that jumper up. He must hitting them in practice the way he keep taking them in the game. I guess he wants to be an allstar really bad. If he was to focus more on his defense the hawks would be a way better team. Josh could easily average over 10 rebounds 2 steals and 2 blocks a game. He has the skill set to make the 1st defensive team and even be the defensive player of the year. But his priorities are in the wrong place. Right now he should the fourth option on the team. When jeff teague went off the night we played new jersey he complained to jeff about not passing the ball when he drove to the hole. The next game against houston jeff tried to pass the ball more and we lost. Josh smith is the longest tenure hawk and a captain on the team. If he wants to continue to be a hawk and have his jersey retire here someday, he needs to let all those personal stats go. Become the defensive player we need and everything else will take care of its self.

My gripe is that its not 16 feet (free throw line) like he said.

He seems to think if he takes 1 dribble in and pulls up it will be blocked or more likely he is just piss poor at shooting off the bounce and takes what the defense gives him.
