Dorell Wright Predictions

Post#1 » by columbiaa14 » Wed Jan 4, 2012 5:09 am

Hey warrior fans,

just curious on what your overall thoughts on dorell wright are? He was one of my favorite players last year and I was sure he would be able to repeat most of what he did last year. But he's clearly been one of the bigger busts of the season. Do you think he's just in an early-season funk, or was last year just a total fluke?

I predict that if he continues to play like he has the first 5 games, a Warrior fan will drown in his own vomit by season's end

I predict he will average 22 points per game this year...for the Dakota Wizards.

I predict he'll average 22 pumpfakes a possession.

I thought he was garbage last year and he's garbage this year. Nothing changed. Boo hoo he made the most 3's, who gives a **** he's not consistent at that and he sucks ass at everything else imaginable except for catching the rare good pass from Curry

He'll get better, but I doubt he reaches anywhere near the heights of last season. Having Rush and McGuire here now negates the need for Dorell to bomb over 500 3-point attempts this season, which was where his fantasy value lies, which is what your really asking.

+ 1 although having Rush and McGuire will force him to learn how to play within himself (not chuck when his shot is off) and overall I expect he'll be a better player as a result but right now he's learning the hard way. One thing he's been doing very well for us so far (better than last year and the best in his career) is rebounding. He just need to stop forcing shots until he starts making them again. All these guys need to be staying late in the gym having shootarounds.

He'll be fine, but yes he won't be kicking out the same productivity as last year. He'll be a gay we can count on to knock 2-4 3's a game, a sort of Anthony Parker-type player.

At some point he'll relax and things will come back to him. He's got to gain his confidence back. Easier said than done. It's to bad because he had hit the hights he's always dreamed about.

So since teams have read the book on the pump fake, now you must adjust and go straight up with the jump shot. Also try and drive to get yourself to the line. Much like a young baseball player who starts out hot at the plate, once the pitchers learn your weaknesses, then it's up to you to adjust.

His jumper would open up if he moved on offense. He always has the opponents worst defender on him because he doesn't move. He's one dimensional on Offense. I wish he would at least cut to the hoop, move around. He's stationary on the baseline behind the three point line. It sucks for the three because Biedrins and wright don't really do much. Biedrins don't want to play and Dorrel don't want the ball unless its a wide open three. I'm not asking him to drive to the rack cause his handle sucks. Maybe go around a screen and cut to the basket.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.

A few games ago, I saw Dorell moving around on one possession. He end up at the 3 pt corner EXACTLY where Beans was trying to set a screen for Curry! LOL    :(

DWright is tradeable. For his salary, he isn't playing above or below it. Last season however, he was a steal at the price we got him at. A team looking for a 6th man to come in and hit some three's would love Dwright. Can't create his own shot, is okay on defense, and in my opinion he plays hard. Best coming off the bench though.

I don't think he should be a starter. he's a guy who you could come of the bench, knock down some threes, catch an alley oop, and get a block. He just doesn't seem to move well with the ball, and makes some very questionable decisions.

I said somewhere else that I think he's a classic Warriors False Positive -- a guy who comes out of the D-League or from another team and has some good games for the Ws, or even a good season like Dorrell did, but then everyone in the league adjusts to his game or his stats fall back to his norms and we begin to find out why the guy wasn't a starter in the first place.

Huh? Including tonight's game, Wright is averaging close to the same number of points, rebounds and assists last year on similar shooting percentages while playing nearly 10% less minutes. His stats haven't really dipped as much as people seem to think they have.
