Hawks are the 2nd Best Team in the East

Post#1 » by baseline33 » Wed Jan 4, 2012 6:23 am

it was a painful game to watch, but still after the game, i feel like the Hawks are the 2nd best team in the east.

Orlando has been out of the picture since the Hawks blew them out of the playoffs last year.

what i have been impressed with the Hawks is their ability to adapt. Hawks have been able to run and gun with the Heat, and play grinding, ugly defense with the Bulls. the Hawks deep bench has been amazing in replacing Crawford.

Hawks hit a few free throw, and they easily withstand the Bulls' surge.

i don't buy that Rip is still decent. Noah and Boozer looks like they regressed.

i think with this schedule, alot of teams are not really caring about position, they just want to make it through the season without exhaustion, and get in the playoffs.

i think the Hawks sweep the Magic in a series.

Hawks took the Bulls to 6 games last year, with the off season moves and Joe and Marvin Healthy, i see the Hawk beating the Bulls in 6 or 7 games.

the Heat are still the team to beat. Hawks had a great game against them a few nights ago. Miami has three super stars, but i think that with the Hawks rebounding and 3pt shooting, i can see a Hawks and Heat series being very competitive

I have to disagree , the bulls are better than the hawks for 2 reasons . 1 size , they are much bigger and more physical than the hawks ,which is really important in the playoffs , 2 a true superstar , the hawks have some talented players but having a superstar like rose to take over a game is something the hawks dont have . last night the bulls played horrible and still got a win . i cant see them playing that bad in a series to an undersized team like atlanta .

both teams played horrible, with the Bulls at home and the Hawks flying from Miami.

Bulls were in character with bad offense. last year they were known as a sloppy team on offense.

Hawks were out of character with the bad 3pt shooting and bad free throw shooting.

if the only way the Bulls can beat the Hawks is by hoping that they have 4 bad 3pt shooting and free throw shooting games, in a series, it is just not going to happen.

Huh?

Even with the low scoring game, the Bulls are 10th in the NBA offensively this year.

So were the Bulls

Is that it?

If you can't make up for it, you can't win a series.

Except it was one game in the regular season, not a playoff series.

Regardless of the actual results of one or 2 games, I think we can agree that in watching the last 2 games, we can safely say that ATL should be at least in the conversation with MIA and CHI for the upper tier of the East. I wouldn't count out teams like BOS and ORL quite yet though and a surprise team (IND? PHI?) could emerge, but there is no doubt that, as of right now, we can play with the elite in the East. Does this mean we are better than either team? No. Does this mean that we would take either team down in a best of 7? No. Does this mean that we could surprise come playoff time? Most definitely.

The Hawks issue has never been talent but really it has been their level of focus over a full season. I am not sure I see too many character differences in this Hawks team vs. previous teams. Also, it is likely that due to age many of their bench players will grow progressively worse throughout the year, especially McGrady. Don't get me wrong, I think they would take the Bulls to 6 games again, but I wouldn't put the team ahead of Chicago.

The hawks are the 3rd best yeam in the east right now. Miami and chicago have a better team. Chicago size and depth make them better than us. Deng length seems to give joe johnson problems. I thought we should have went to our big lineup. The matchups would have favored us. Jeff teague need to be more agressive against dereck rose. Make him work harder on defense. Now if we were to see them in the playoffs we have a very good chance of beating them. I believe now the league see the hawks as a threat to come out the east.

Or even focus over an entire game.

I also stand by your post, I think they are better than the Bulls (and I am from chicago). except Rip is more than "still decent" and its way too early to say Boozer and Noah have regressed. but the Hawks are a very different team this year, the GM has done a good job making the bench deeper. Bump the fact that Chicago has more size, we still have a deeper team. And I dont understand how our problem has been that we dont have the character to last a full season? We took the Magic out of the playoffs last year and did well against Chicago? That isnt exactly folding. I think with our deeper bench and new GM continuing to fix BK's mistakes, we are better than the Bulls this year

Return to Atlanta Hawks
