Rondo for Irving+Kidd

Post#1 » by OldSchoolNoBull » Wed Jan 4, 2012 8:54 pm

I've been offered Kyrie Irving and Jason Kidd in exchange for Rajon Rondo.

My team looks like this currently:

M.Gasol/Cousins
Love/Hansbrough/Tristan Thompson
S.Jackson
Harden/P.George/V.Carter
Rondo/Nash/Brandon Knight/Bibby

H2H, 14-team, points/assists/rebounds/steals/blocks/to/fg%/ft%/3PM

I'm really on the fence about this. I've already got a surplus of point guards and this would a 2-for-1 pg swap. I think Rondo gives me more assists+rebounds+steals, but Irving would probably give me more points+3PM. I'm not sure how big of a fantasy factor Kidd will be anymore. I really wanted Irving in the middle-rounds of the draft, but he was taken a few picks ahead of me. I'd love to have him, but I'm not sure if he's worth Rondo.

Another factor in this is that I have DeMarcus Cousins on my roster, and given his inconsistency already, I'd love to move him. The guy offering me Irving and Kidd also has Greg Monroe and Emeka Okafor on his roster. I'm thinking about a counteroffer - something like Rondo+Cousins for Irving+Kidd+Monroe or Okafor.

What do you guys think?

Update: After some communication with the guy, he is willing to give me Irving and my choice of Greg Monroe or Okafor for Rondo and Cousins. I think I may have to do that, the upgrade from the inconsistent Cousins with his awful FG% to Monroe or Okafor is worth it, I think.

To be honest, I would keep Rondo, in both scenarios. He's playing out of his mind. In 2 of my leagues (1 H2h, and 1 ROTO) the person with Rondo is currently ranked top 2.

I'd keep Rondo. Once Nash is back to form, he'll solid and Knight is showing glimpses of brilliance. Just need more playing time.

I'm very torn. Rondo has been playing really great so far, but will he keep it up all year? And can we be sure that Nash will get back to form? He's getting old. I may be able to get Kidd back in the deal as well.

And I'm pretty enchanted by Greg Monroe, he looks like he could be a stud, both fantasy and irl. And I want to get rid of Cousins.

I'd hang on to Rondo. Especially in this instance, where you already have a plethora of 1's.

If you feel you need to trade Rondo, I'd look at your position of needs first. Just looking at your team, I'd think scoring points might be an issue: so maybe try Rondo for 'Melo?

Ya, hang on to Rondo. Nash is looking like his old self and I don't even think he's fully healthy yet. You'll be fine.

Not a fan of Kidd at all this year. He's basically 2 cats (assists and steals). He's barely shooting this year. The guy has 3 points combined in his last 2 games.

I am still pondering this. His original offer was simply Rondo for Irving+Kidd. I don't feel comfortable doing that. Rondo is worth more than that.

I was seriously considering doing it in order to dump Cousins for Monroe(I don't think last night is going to be the norm for Cousins and I really want Monroe). But I still feel like Rondo has more trade value than that.

I floated the idea of just Cousins for Monroe to the guy, but he said no. Clearly he was only willing to do that in order to acquire Rondo.

I really want to do Cousins for Monroe badly, I think that would be a very nice upgrade for me, but it looks like I'm going to have to give up Rondo do it, and I'm just not feeling great about that.

The guy also has Iggy. I was thinking, if I gave up a little more and got him to include Iggy, it might be worth it. Something like:

Rondo
Cousins
S.Jackson
maybe one more of my lower-tier guys

for

Irving
Monroe
Iggy

But then I think giving up Jackson for Iggy is a lateral move, especially considering Iggy's poor FT%.

I don't know. Anybody have any more thoughts about this?

I wouldn't do that last trade.

Cousins + Jackson for Monroe + Iggy is close in terms of value (Jackson is seriously underperforming right now) but throwing in Rondo and only getting back Kyrie would be a terrible move on your part.
