I can't believe how horrible his defensive instincts are. I feel that him alone would be enough to scare away Jackson as a coach. Melo can at least play defense if motivated but Amar'e just wow... where is his head at? I'm not on the trade Amar'e bandwagon yet but I sure am kicking the tires. If the right deal came along...I could be on it fast.

This thread is so damn sad. A bunch of impatient fans who set their expectations way too high. STAT gave us 25/12 on a bad night coming from injury. I will take that on a BAD night, he will get better. When Iman has a bad game watch them jump ship on him as well....Dummies.

Thing is Amare started off last season pretty badly too, and that was with a full training camp and no injury. We started 3-8 remember? Amare is never going to be a good defender or a smart player in general but he is better than this.

Trading him isnt out of the question down the line, but lets chill for a sec.

i can understand knicks fans' affection for amare.

after striking out with so many FA's, you were able to land him. he embraced the city, put ny sort of back on the nba map and played like an MVP for the first half of the year. i get it.

BUT these things i'd like to bring notice to:

- he only came to ny b/c nobody would give him $100 mil uninsured like ny would. thus making his contract untradeable until possibly the last year of it.

- he never has and never will play defense b/c he doesn't care to (although maybe since he's only played for d'antoni, he's a product of his environment. bargnani is really putting effort out there under coach casey so maybe it's a coaching issue)

- he makes alot of noise but doesn't do anything to back it up. multiple times last year, he would try to get vocal to his teammates about defense but he does not practice what he preaches

- melo does not raise the play of those around him. neither does amare. they are scorers and finishers, not sharers. they don't mesh, pg or no pg.

conclusion - ny has no option other than trying to make it work. but it's not gonna happen under d'antoni...

Haha and people call Bosh soft wow i would prefer Bosh over Amare he plays better on the defensive end and rebounds.

Some of you guys are acting very stupid and (Please Use More Appropriate Word) he is not getting traded you guys aren't general managers because so of you would just plain suck at it. Everybody had bad defense tonight not just one person everybody sucked at it now you guys making up dumb trades that never going to happen i gurantee none of your trades will happen. Some you guys are lousy fans just complain about every little thing and are never satisfied some of you guys would love to go back to the isah thomas when we weren't winning and just being crap and pure garbage thats how stupid you guys are acting right now.

lmao at this thread might as well trade tyson chandler as well. Stat 25 points 12 rebounds, 11 points 6 rebounds. Oh and if melo has a bad stretch of games lets trade him as well. Then we can have a team that we can all enjoy lol.

Don't use the box score an evaluator of talent/value. If that were the case Al Jefferson would be a top center in the league. He doesn't box out, his defense is terrible, he loses track of his man almost all the time. So he got some free throw rebounds and hit some jumpers...?

Comparing Stat to Shump is what's bad around here.

Shumpert is competing out there, Amar'e is trying to outscore the opponent, and he failed at that.

Effort counts in my book, and the rook gave it.

If the rook stops giving effort, he needs to have a seat as well, but he isn't the 100 million dollar player.

I don't blame Amare at all for his troubles (on offense at least) so far. He gets the ball in a situation that he flourishes in (i.e. finishing on pick and rolls, at the elbow with just his man guarding him and right under the hoop) very rarely. I don't think Carmelo as point forward is going to work, the guy has little to no capacity for creating for others. He's got good handles and can hit the open man but that does not a point forward make. A huge part of Amare's problems start with the fact that most half court plays start with a Carmelo Tyson high screen where he has to either spot up in the corner or on the wings or curl up to the elbow for a jumpshot. That's not using his elite finishing ability properly. In an ideal world Chandler would have enough of a jumpshot for Amare to set the high screen or Chandler could at least occupy his man well enough to set off ball screens on one side while Melo and Amare operated a two man game on the other.

And besides, STAC was stat padding. His points had minimal impact on the game.

Before giving up on Amare how about getting a coach who can actually draw up plays that suit both Amare's and Tyson's offensive game?

MD is the weak link here.
