Concerns on Offense

I think alot of our problems on offense revolve around everyone trying to find their own place in the offense and a rhythm. If you watch our games, there is no flow to our offense what so ever. We just need to keep playing together and try to be as unselfish as possible. Removing Danny, or Darren won't benefit us in the long run. We as a fan base should just try to be patient and gel. We haven't had the same starting lineup to start the season for years it would seem. Our roster is constantly getting a significant overhaul. I would be more concerned if we weren't giving a consistent effort on defense. Like my coaches always told me, offense can sometimes come and go; but defense is always there. It's all about effort on that end of the court, how much you want it.

No, moving Darren will help in the long run. He has no place on this roster. The only thing he's remotely good at doing is getting open while off the ball so he can score. We don't need that. What we need is somebody who can create shots for others and some D couldn't hurt either. He can't provide that.

They're not going to come out and pull a JOB and say he sucks. They were brought in to do the opposite. But Larry will. He's definitely looking to upgrade the team and one of Granger or Collison, maybe both will be gone before next season, IMO. Granger has gotten worse every season since 08-09 and Collison just isn't a starting caliber guard. Bird knows this and sees this. If we move Granger we could possibly have space for two max contracts. I think he may gamble and make a run for Deron Williams. He obviously wants to upgrade the point. Bringing in Hill and asking about Rondo all within a few months of eachother is no coincidence. He realizes Collison isn't a good point guard, or even average at that.

Can you show me times where Bird has said anything to substantiate this?

I see multiple problems, but the most glaring one is probably that we need more iso players.
Once you can generate the help defense of your opponent, much more is possible.

Things that could help:
- get a (point) guard who can get by his man
- move PG to SF

To me, it looks like a team that is trying to incorporate some key new players into the lineup really could have used a full training camp, as well as a few more off days earlier in the season to hold practices.

The Pacers have some good offensive players. West alone is a huge upgrade to the team's offensive capabilities. I'm hoping that as more games are played they will gradually figure it out and the offense will start looking better.

Out of all the games we've played (aside from 1) we shot below 40%.
To me that is a slight concern. Yes i know it's early in the season, there was a short offseason and there are a thousand other excuses but the fact still remains!

I don't think it is Collisons fault at all and I think he has a bright future.
It comes down to the whole team sharing the ball more and movement.
Granger is shooting too much/forcing things at the moment

From what I've seen and according to the numbers (34.3 AST rate) Collison is pretty much looking to pass first.

Collison looks significantly better this year.
I don't know if we still need an upgrade or he just needs to work more with hibbert but I see a huge guy with good post moves that rarely gets fed the ball in good position.

Any real good post guy I've ever seen just gets fed over and over till he kills you. I see us look Hib's way half-heartedly then pass around the perimeter and chuck more often than not.

If we did have a guard who could really feed the post I think Hib could be an all-star.

We need to hurry up on D and then slow down on O.
When we geared up to match Miami's transition game we lost all patience on our end.

We have a strong inside game and don't use it enough. We use mediocre shooters instead.

I don't think we need to slow on O, but we need to have more patience while making quicker decisions. Seems contradictory, but we're not getting into our offense fast enough during 24-14 in the shot clock, then we stagnate for the rest of the shot clock. We're not making defenses work.
