DJ Augistin trade?

Post#1 » by koogiking » Thu Jan 5, 2012 11:15 am

Landry Fields
Toney Douglas
Renaldo Balkman

for

DJ Augustin

This should be a win win for both teams. Kemba Walker gets more playing time. You get a young Small Forward that hustles to fit in with the rest of the young core, and a back up point guard to play behind Walker. Renaldo Balkman is just a contract thrown in to make the salaries match, but he also hustles and he's on a really small short contract anyway so it's not a big deal.

The Knicks get a real PG that can actually pass which will help out the issues they have on offense.

Which team says no which team says yes?

Why would you ever give up three players for DJ Augustin? I'd say Landry Fields alone has better trade value than DJ considering all the talented point guards around the league. The Knicks FO would never see this as a "get a real PG that passes" trade. They aren't capable of thinking about it that deep.

DJ is better than Fields or Landry. DJ would be a good fit but I don't see anyone on the Knicks roster that I want that they would give up for DJ.

You don´t have picks to get DJ. First you can send is 2018 and that is too far away to get a hint of its value, that would have to unprotected. You won´t trade Shumpert away and only other player I would be ok with would be Lin as a throw-in. We are going to get a better offer for DJ till trade deadline this season I guess.

In real world there is no way we would accept trade with more players received than outgoing as that would mean firing Corey Higgins (the player) tom make a room which Rod Higgins (the president of basketball operations) won't sign.

Would rather see our mgt target NO.

DJ for 1st rd pick, either NO's or LAC/MIN's via NO

This was the same deal I thought about a few weeks ago... now? LOL NO

DJ's value is higher than its ever been. Why? because there -aren't- that many quality point guards left around the league. He's the only upper-mid tier point guard available, probably the cheapest, and definitely the youngest. I wouldn't be okay with just throwing him away for Landry (who's frankly sucked this year) just to see Kemba get minutes he isn't ready for yet.

this. If we should trade him, it should be a top10 pick or a young player with a lot of potential. not a fan of those "one good player for 3 scrubs" trades

I say we kiss his putooty pray that he resigns, and sit back wait for Kemba to become a perineal sixth man of the year.

I don't know if we walked away from this draft with Lamb and Henson I might could say peace to DJ.

You know that might be worth exploring. K might get a 2012 off potential alone.

I would trade DJA for Douglas/Fields/1st....

2 good bench options+pick is a good trade imo, I asked the Knicks board yesterday if they would trade Douglas+Fields+2nd but it would have to be a first.

It gives us good depth & Matt Carroll would never touch the floor again ;)

Kemba/Douglas
Hendo/Fields/Douglas
Maggette/Fields/UPS
White/Thomas/Biz/UPS
Diaw/Biz/Mullens

Fields is a natural SF being asked to play out of position & it really shows.

Our bench would be pretty sweet & Douglas+Fields would be key pieces of our bench for years to come.

People are questioning the Knicks young talent but their offense is either Melo is or STAT iso, it's hard for everyone else on their team to get involved.

You know, I actually like Renaldo Balkman and those guys but I'd nix this one too. Unless you can take Carroll back somehow.

I was on here asking about this a few weeks ago.

No way the knicks give up a first. And after watching Dj play, it looks look for now you guys still need him. Maybe in about a month you guys could consider trading him. At that point if Baron Davis is back the KNicks are desperate for a PG and they dont do that deal. DJ is nothing special, I think the KNicks give up equal talent in just giving Fields and Douglas for DJ. Only reason knicks do it is because obviously they are badly in need of a pg. No way they give up any draft picks, they need them in the future to fill out that roster. They need to hope and pray they can draft some more players like Shumpert.

I think right now, bobcats dont do it because they dont need to, and fields and douglas while it makes them a little deeper is not an immedaite need for them. Knicks would be smart to do that trade right now imo, but by the time the bobcats might even consider it, I think they Knicks wouldnt anymore.

I think the potential for a trade is there though.. I personally think he would help the Knicks alot. I'd love to have him for fields and douglas.

DJ is a good PG, he is definitely starting quality & I would take him over half the PG's that start in the league. the reason I want to trade him is that I think Kemba is going to be special & I really want another pick in this draft(which the Knicks don't have) or prospects at positions of need.

No way Douglas+Fields is equal value for DJ, the Knicks would have to give up a first for sure.

I like Douglas & Fields but they are not starting quality at this point in time.

Douglas, Fields and Balkman? Douglas only looks half decent because he's playing chuck ball with D'Antoni and Fields probably suffers from the same thing. Balkman? UPS is better than that guy and that's not saying anything.

Don't worry, another chucker will be thrown into the mix when Baron returns so you'll have plenty of opportunities to fire Pringles.

Silk, Knicks don´t have a first (to trade). For like 6 years. They also don't have many second rounders.

Douglas and Fields are trash and Balkman is OK but we have plenty of those types already so no need there.

And you know Douglas and Fields suck when even I wouldn't trade DJ for them.

Lol @ getting a top 10 pick (especially in this draft) out of DJ Augustin.

I'm interested him for my Jazz, though, as I see us needing a pass first option at PG who can also stretch the floor. He seems to be off to a strong start, so I'm not sure if that changes the perception of his value either around the league or to Charlotte specifically.

What would you think about a swap of Devin Harris, who is bigger and a better scorer and defender (when motivated), than DJ if we took Matt Carrol off your hands? Does that appeal to you guys?
