Is there a team in the NFL that does a better job of taking care of its core players?

I agree with this, it isn't just that Rodgers will want to get paid, TT will pay him and likely before his contract expires. TT has a history of taking care of his guys and extending them before their contracts expire. Mostly this has saved the Packers quite a bit of money, though Rodgers won't come cheap especially if we win another Owl or two.

I have zero doubt that Ted will address Rodgers contract before his current contract expires, it's just a matter of when.

That said, things could get tricky for Thompson given the cap won't rise much the next two years if my memory if correct of the new CBA. It's not just Rodgers looming, so are Finley, Jennings, Wells, Raji, and Clay.

Negative, he isn't with Lacey Minchew any longer. There is a new one.

Some of u guys have homer glasses on with Rodgers. He's smart enough to say the right thing but you can he perceives everything as an insult and uses it as fire. This is the guy that wouldnt let the preseason workout comments go. Do you really think is competitive nature won't cause him to be upset his backup is making 4 mil more than him? I don't think it will cause problems but I see iceness point

It's human nature to get upset when someone who is less talented makes more money than you do. It's not limited to athletes. We all do that to one degree or another. But it's still assinine to make an assumption about Rodgers. As I said previously it's the Skip Bayless school of "thought". Be a contrarian just so you can say "Look at me, look at me, I'm being different".

If it came down to it, I agree he'd be pissed. Definitely not something to worry about though. Ted would never risk tagging Flynn without a deal in place. i.e. if Flynn gets tagged the deal is already done.

I do think ultimately Flynn walks without being tagged.

But again, anyone who is a top player and signs a long term deal knows that before the deal is up other players will be making more, sometimes much more, and often with less talent. That's been happening for years. Jeff Suppan was the highest paid Brewer for 4 years, I'm sure that didn't sit well with many. Some players make a big stink about it and it affects the team. Most don't. Assuming that Rodgers will be one to make a stink makes no sense at all.

To say nothing of the fact that the reason he'd get franchised has nothing to do with the Packers thinking Matt Flynn is worth $14 million, it's that they want to get Rodgers more help via the draft. If I was Rodgers and I thought the Packers could get a 1st or 2nd round pick for him I'd be pissed if they didn't make that move.

With Jones and Barkley returning I'd franchise Flynn. Right now it's looking like only Luck, RG3 and Tannehill are there for QB needy teams.

I think we could possibly trade Matt to the New York Jets. I think Sanchez's time has run out. Maybe we could trade him to the Dolphins assuming the QBs in the draft are taken before their pick is up.

For those Packer fans (myself included) hopingfor a tag and trade of Flynn, things couldn't have turned out better with Barkley and Jones declaring. Not only does it increase the chances of getting a #1 in return, but now you'll likely have multiple teams vying for his services meaning even more potential compensation. Locking up Finley is paramour now. Really really would hate to lose the asset that McCarthy has created.

Tons of teams would love Flynn. Hell who do you think Denver would rather have starting on Sunday, Flynn or Tebow? How will Flynn do on a team with less weapons? Who knows, he may never be better than average. But there are teams willing to take a chance on him. TT needs to find a way to make them pay (us). I just don't know if tagging him will work.
