Damn, that was fast.

So my question for all is how does Smart change this team? What kind of offense does he implement? Does he keep it the same?

Let's hope the GS Warriors were wrong and we are right...I'm not counting on it...

Yeah I have no problem with it...he was going to finish this year out anyways (which could already be a lost season due to lock-out, westphal, etc.) then they give him one offseason and a full go as a coach in an 82 game year.

Seems fine to me...not sure what about this screams "long term." Its for 142 games...max

All this does is lend smart some credibility with the players. they can't just disregard him because he is a temp coach this gives him more authority. i don't know anything about him as a coach so im ready to see how this plays out.

Yeah guys, the Maloofs opened the wallet up and did the RIGHT thing here. No more patch jobs, they're sending a message to the players with this move. But as I said in the other thread, they have to let the ax fall this time if it doesn't work and not waste another offseason. Good thing this happened so early as oppose to usual because they have plenty of time to evaluate him and the team.

I still hope that this does not rule out a possible better coach coming in next season if we're able to attract one (Sloan, JVG, etc etc)

Smart, who coached the Golden State Warriors last season, signed a two-year deal with the Kings. Next season's salary is not guaranteed, giving the Kings an opportunity to pursue another coach if the team makes little or no progress under Smart.

Good.
