Re: Byron Mullens
He's shooting 60%+ from 16-23 feet, that won't continue. He's below average from everywhere else. Mullens is what he is - a decent jump shooting big who doesn't do anything else well. He's just hot shooting the ball right now.

Is this rhetorical? Because Byron's a great name, especially when the alternative is a euphemism for fellatio.

he also has nice moves to get his shot off as well. he's not just shooting static jumpshots.
like i said, it looks like he's been practicing a lot by himself the past couple of yrs because the rest of his game sucks.

I think he can keep it up. I haven't seen anything that would point to his shooting being a fluke. Dudes wet

do you know how ridiculous 60% from mid-range is? dirk is like the best in the world from mid-range and he shot 52%

Before tonight's game he was at 63% on 5 attempts a game. Way below average everywhere else, and he's always been bad finishing at the rim.
League average FG% last year 16-23 feet was 40% for centers. Mullens would be one of the best jump shooting center in league history if he stayed at 60%+ at that volume. Realistically, I think he'd be in the 45%-48% range, which is still very good, but it will impact the high scoring efficiency he's seen thus far.

Well, that's more reason to think that % will fall. Shots off the dribble or move are tougher shots. Mullens is a good shooter but he's not the best big man shooter of all time. If he is, well, congratulations I guess.

No facetiousness available in the Big Rat tonight? You can't post a link to the future..........or can you? P.S. Still waiting for the lottery numbers.

Dirk is a superstar that gets the best defender and double teams. Most of Mullens shots are open pick and pops or with 1 defender. Teams don't respect him right now and he's burning them. Either they can let him keep burning them or they can start focusing on him...either way helps the team

even with all that extra attention, dirk was only 1 percentage point lower than the best mid-range shooter in the game, al horford. he led the league, shooting 53% from 16-23. mullens aint shooting no 60% from mid-range for the rest of the yr.
as for the bold part....no, not necessarily. if they start giving him more attention, he'll have to pass more. he sucks at passing.

Not really. If they start giving him more attention its just more space for other guys that are getting the attention now. Basketball=give and take

If a player scores 40 points in the first game, you don't need psychic powers to know that he can't maintain that average. Saying BJ cannot maintain a near record setting pace is not predicting the future, its common sense.

easy solution. let him catch the ball and bring the pressure.
i remember when i was watching the cavs/bobcats game. mullens had hit a few jumpers in a row. cavs brought a soft double and mullens threw the ball to the scorers table.
make him into a passer and you nullify his offense and make the rest of the team worse offensively.

Hey I never said he was perfect
basically his rookie season on a new team with no training camp thrown into a major role on an NBA team. He will continue to improve as he has every game this yearRe: Byron Mullens

Maybe you should boast after Byron has a good season? Boasting after a decent game makes you look like the idiot
