I knew Ryno wasn't going to perform like he did in previous games. When teams don't leave space for Ryno, he is basically useless. His strength is his shooting and even though we have seen him in the paint more than usual this season, he can't do that against a team like the Bulls. It just won't happen. He won't find the empty space on the paint to do anything. They won't leave him open on the 3 point line either. So, it was obvious he was going to suck unless he went on an insane heater.
Also, Meer had no hope coming into this game either. I had zero expectations from him. He seriously had no chance against Rose.
That leaves 3 players to pull something special.
I was expecting Hedo to struggle, because I think Deng is one of the best one on one defenders in this league and I thought Hedo had no chance against him. As it turned out Hedo really struggled against Deng's very close one on one defense. He still put up 12 points on 5-11 shooting but he only had 3 assists vs 2 turnovers.
Now that leaves us with two remaining players. J. Rich and Dwight. Unfortunately Dwight had no chance to really do anything special. He battled with the Bulls defense from the beginning to the end and he was exhausted on the 4th quarter which was pretty visible.
As many people said before, Magic needs a good point guard who can create for himself and for others. D. Williams, Rondo or Nash would be perfect for this team. Meer just isn't good enough. Until that happens, Magic won't win these big games consistently.
It's not just jameer, but we lack a player that can get his own shot at will. If we had such a player it would make it a lot tougher for chicago to stay home on the shooters. Doesn't matter who that player is, pg or sg or sf or pf or c we need that player that can take his man off the dribble and create something.
Now you may think that PG is what needs to be replaced, but after seeing anderson and turk struggle i'd be more than willing to ship either of those for such player. Turk I can live with, because he can handle the rock. But Anderson I think should be shipped.
