Good for him. How many minority GMs are there? I know Ozzie Newsome is in Baltimore.

His first official business should be canning Hue Jackson for preemptively screwing him with that ridiculous Carson Palmer trade.

Good for Reggie. He's deserved this for a long time.

Not only that, but i wonder if the Raiders gave McKenzie pretty much full authority or if he'll have to deal with one of those sharing of power situations which usually end up going terrible?

Reggie already is badly handcuffed by an an almost mind boggling shortage of draft picks to fix the roster, but that job will be made even harder if Jackson is allowed to interfere.

Plus, speaking of Palmer, what if say McKenzie feels that next year Jason Campbell should start instead because he doesn't turn the ball over so much, but Jackson wants Palmer to start?

Ted Thompson is one too, only Albino in the league.

Big blow to the Packers. TT and MM might get all the credit but alot of the credit is from other great ppl you don't hear much about. This is how great teams fade.

Well run organizations will lose quality people, front office and coaching staff. It helps McKenzie that Big Al isn't around anymore but yeah, that Palmer trade hurts him big time.

"Reggie's a tremendous evaluator," Wolf told the Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn in November. "He can tell you who can play and who can't play. That's what it's all about. Some can write reports but can't tell you who can play."
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I guess you can look at it in a couple ways: one is that Jackson had SO much authority after Al's death that he'll have to retain some of it; the other is that the hierarchical structure collapsed after Al's death and now has been restored. How much authority did Jackson have while Al was in charge? I'd guess that's about how much he has now, but I don't know.

My first inclination is also to think that McKenzie should be a really hot commodity, and shouldn't be compelled to leave the Packers for a situation where he has to share personnel power with Jackson. I mean, if he doesn't have the power to fire Jackson, for instance, why would he take that job? It's not like Jackson's accrued a ton of credibility in personnel, or even as a coach. How many picks did he give up to acquire a QB whose team improved when he held out, and based on how he perceived him when he was the WR coach on Palmer's team five years previous?

I was kind of joking earlier in the thread, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if McKenzie fires Jackson before the draft.

Best of Luck. Seems if he had waited a little he could have had offers from better situations?

Pack will be fine. Like players - next guy up. I trust TT to keep developing talent in FO as well as team.
Dorsey & Wolf for example.

He was with the Packers for 18 years, that's what I find curious. He worked under Wolf, Sherman and Thompson. I'm wondering why it took so long for him to move up. I realize GM jobs don't open nearly as frequently as coaching jobs but it does seem odd for him to be in one place for such a long time, under 3 different GM's. Maybe he doesn't interview well or maybe he just liked it here so much he didn't consider other offers.

There was a rumor that he is possibly going to fire Jackson and bring Winston Moss over to be the HC.

Well, that could be true. It could also mean that there is still some prejudice in the league - in the ownership - against minority GMs.
