The Amazingly Sucky Wizards Real GM Posters thread
Ok, my fellow Real GM Wiz board forum participants, it's time to call a spade a spade. Many of you right now are on one long PMS binge of stupid, asinine, shallow, vapid, insipid, short-sighted and whiny posts. It's Abe's fault, it's EG's fault, it's Flip's fault, it's Wall's fault, it's Mother Teresa's fault, this team sucks. Guys who haven't even played yet are already considered busts. The focus on Wall's every bowel movement and flatulence is particularly grating. I'm sure it won't be difficult to find similar posts of mine in the recent or distant past so I'm not absolving myself of blame either. But really guys, the first step in overcoming a problem is admitting that you have a problem.
So I challenge all of our whiny, bratty, whimpering posters (which is pretty much most of us) to come into this thread and simply type this: Hi, my name is X and I love the Wizards but right now I'm acting like a whiny, vapid, insipid (choose your own adjective (blank, choose your own noun here). I realize I have a problem. I may continue to post this way, but I will try to think for at least a nanosecond before I post any more of my self-indulgent drivel and bring this board any lower.
Hi, my name is Benjammin and I love the Wizards but right now I'm acting like a jilted lover on the Bachelor who didn't get a rose and I'm jealous of all the girls who did when I watch other NBA teams. I realize I have a problem, and I will try to do better, recognizing that being a Wizards fans is particularly challenging and frustrating and the need for a release is a healthy and natural one. I will try to make reasonably intelligent posts and think for a moment or two before hitting the "submit" button.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Wizards Real GM Posters thread
I'm assuming this is in response to last nights "good game". If the team continues to play like that, then you'll be absolutely right - we were overreacting and should say our 20 Hail Walls for forgiveness.
But the very strong possibility still exists that last night was a blip on the radar because of the players-only meeting and because they were playing at home against a flawed team. They still could very well revert back to what we saw in the previous six games at the slightest showing of adversity. And if that's the case...watch out, cuz it's gonna get REALLY ugly around here!

Maybe I haven't been around here enough lately, but I really don't remember people ripping on Mother Teresa. But I do agree that the reports coming out of the locker room on Wall's bowel movement smell are probably over the top.

Humbug!!! Visit any teams board and you will find similar posts, EVEN on teams with winning records. These boards are for real-time hand-wringing about your team, its part of being a fan.

Just as I thought. We're willing to use the "amazingly sucky" moniker on anyone but ourselves. Thanks for confirming what I feared.

Compared to world hunger, it's pretty low in importance, but the Wizards have a long list of woes going pretty far back. Complaining about this 0-7 team is part of the coping process for many fans. Is the alternative to passionately and uncritically embrace a horrible team not in spite of but because of their dysfunction, a la '62 Mets?
There were no paper towels in the bathroom for the second straight game. They never promised me they would have them, so expecting them to comply with DC health and public venue regulations is really just a lot of whining. (Louis C.K. does a great bit on Americans' expectations). Obviously, I'm not ready to admit I have a problem.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Wizards Real GM Posters thread
I personally don't have a problem with how the board is acting. From all the evidence we've been presented via last season and the early parts of this season, the team is bad, their future prospects are bad, and their effort level is bad. Under those circumstances, there's going to be a limit on the quality you're going to get on a forum discussing the team. If one or more of those areas improve, I'm sure the general board demeanor will improve as well.
If there are those out there that do take a look and really feel like their posting has gone below a quality threshold they're comfortable with, I'd argue that a better idea than trying to put more thought and effort into future posts, is to instead, just post less often. I've probably posted as much in the past year as I used to do in a month, and I'm no worse for the wear for it. If the team can't be bothered to show up most nights, why should you?

Have you read other teams' boards? Seriously, I've found the posters on this sub-section to be SIGNIFICANTLY more level-headed, knowledgeable and realistic compared to the majority of RealGM.
Overreactions are bound to happen, but I think Wizards' board posters are some of the best on the site when it comes to actual NBA analysis.

No, I have NOT criticized Mother Teresa ... yet.
Had I known what he was eating, I probably would have had a problem with John Wall's diet prior to the draft. Never have I hated on a young man so much and so undeservedly. I probably would have said soda makes him hyper and that's why he's gonna be a bust. If he were a vegan, I would have said no wonder he's weak and can't finish at the rim. If he were eating too much meat, I would have criticized his cholesterol count. Whatever Wall ate prior to the draft, I'd have said that DeMarcus (CK) Cousins ate better.
Oh, let me be acknowledged as now having turned on Cousins. The CK is for coach killer.
I am CCJ. I don't even like myself on this board anymore. In real life, my divorce has left me one hurtin' dude. Between living with the fact that I've made some horrible choices in life, I have to deal with women in my life (two ex wives) who IMO are crazier than I am on my worst day without meds and before therapy. Worse, they're friends now. Have you ever heard of having two baby mommas after a dude? I have to keep laughing to keep from crying. I think the distractions of trying to be decent dude and a standup dad are weighing on my hoops IQ.
I used to find the Wizards a pleasant distraction. This board was a fun place and it was cathartic to vent about the Wizards. The board seemed kinder and gentler, but maybe I am the one who has changed. I have always been an alarmist and I have been one arrogant, know-it-all for years on this site. However, I don't ever recall just not liking most of the feedback I get and feeling so frustrated about this team.
I am just arrogant enough to believe the Wizards really are not as bad as the coaching. I am sorry, Ben. I have to blame SOMEBODY. When I said stuff in the past that was negative about Wall it wasn't received. When I said stuff in the past about Javale that was positive it wasn't received. Yet, folks like dandridge say I am not any more right than anybody else here. Makes me think maybe he IS right. Regardless, I confess to being not at all happy and not having the fun I did in the past posting here.
So, I have admitted to you guys stuff way more personal than most will dare do. I have a lot of personal unhappiness that affects some of what I post. At the same time, I still have my reasonings for posting the vast majority of what I do. I get subjective like everybody else but I tend to use stats and other stuff to back it up. I just don't like the personal attacks. Attack my opinion and point out I am wrong about something all you want. (Almond is a great thing to point out). However, I have too much real drama to get engaged feuding on this site. The petty BS gets real old, real fast.
I think the real reasons Wizards fans are at each other's throats is nothing more than hopes deferred. When Wall came on things looked up. Right now, things don't. Ted Leonsis is preaching patience. Some agree with that. I do not. I think David Aldridge is right. No time for patience in this NBA. The divisions on this board just show what different perspectives are out there.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Hi, my name is DRH and I love the Wizards but right now I'm I feel like that girl who keeps going back to the boyfriend (the Wizards) even though he beats the living crap out of her, lies to me and treats me like crap. Her friends (my friends who are fans of better teams) continually knock me for the fact I can't leave him (Wizards), and shake their heads in amazement and disappointment that I don't look for another guy (team). I guess I just love him (them) too much...
I realize I have a problem, and I will try to do better, recognizing that being a Wizards fans is particularly challenging and frustrating and the need for a release is a healthy and natural one. I will try to make reasonably intelligent posts and think for a moment or two before hitting the "submit" button.

This is the funniest d*mn thread I've seen in years. Most criticisms you can hurl @ the Wiz are totally valid (yet somehow TNT & ESPN still get it wrong) but even if 99% of our critiques are somewhat accurate we all still need to get a grip.
Kudos to Ben for the thread, to pancakes for the diderotn reference, to CCJ for keeping it real & to Hibachi for cracking me up.

maybe there should be some "Grade the Washington Wizards Fans" and "Who Should Be the Next Washington Wizards Fan" threads to go with it, complete with voting.

Great point - people come here for different reasons - we should all respect that. There is nothing that will happen here that will affect real life efforts other than perhaps blowing off steam. In my own case, I'm having an absolutely terrific year, and have no real reason to be upset. My venting, such as it is (I believe I'm on the lower end of this scale), is more about seeing suckitude that doesn't lead to long term success.
But unlike some, I'm TOTALLY OK to go with Ted's timeline. He has a pretty big leash in my opinion, and deserves the chance to get this right, even if we flounder a bit longer than some think. Whether that changes next year or next month, I cannot say. I will be surprised if Flip is still here if we keep laying eggs more often than not. But again, at this point I'm willing to go along for the ride.
That said, I will be whining pretty heavily though if we don't see Vesely play this Sunday. Common already!!!!

Can't be worse than the ESPN boards. Though I guess that's faint praise.
