Joe Johnson question from an outsider?

Post#1 » by bmyers3317 » Sat Jan 7, 2012 3:13 pm

What's going on the last two years with Joe? It's not like he is an old player, what has changed from his 20,4,4 days? He seems to not do much more than score anymore and he isn't do ing that well. Is he lazy, is it the compressed schedule, roster changes?

Joe Johnson held an elbow injury from Atlanta until he signed his new contract. He had surgery on it last season and it seemed to cause him some discomfort all season.

As far as this year goes, Joe is just missing his shots, and Jeff Teague is taking some touches from him since he brings the ball up most of the time. Coach Drew seems to be trying to spread things around, but Joe needs to take control more often (same story every year), and stop shying from the spotlight. None of the players seem comfortable in Coach Drew's offense. Plus, it's not like Joe is a legit first option, and yet we're paying him like one.

In the back of our heads I'm sure we're all thinking that he just hit THE barrier.
The one that plenty analysts that were comparing his statistics and therefore future downfall to guys like Michael Finley hypothesized. He may not be old age wise but in the NBA there is a far better indicater in minutes played that usually charts the expected downfall of player' careers.
