Beasley 2012-2013

Suppose Beasley has an injury-plagued contract year, and finishes the season averaging something like 13 PPG, 6 RPG, 2 APG on better efficiency, but still not great.

1. Do you give his the $8.2 mil qualifying offer for one year?

2. Do you try to lock him up for a deal starting over the $5 mil MLE?

3. Do you say, "See ya - it's Derrick Williams show now?"

If he can accept don't be starter 2, otherwise BIG 3.

I'd offer him an extension for around $6m, but only for 2-3 years. The only thing hes really shown that he can do is score, but not efficiently..he's a better rebounder then people give him credit for, but at 6'9-10' he should be a little better.

He needs to become a better playmaker when his offense isn't falling for him. If he could show he can be a good playmaker then I would consider a longer extension. That's what good players do, when they're offense isn't coming they: 1) attack looking to get to the line, 2) try and become more of a playmaker for their teamates, 3) focus more on defense/rebounding. Beasley doesn't really do that at all. He gets discouraged when he misses shots.

2 or maybe 3 if Williams shows he can play SF and Beasley won't accept the role of 6th man.

No way do I want him playing for the QO. Why give him another shot at that price? If he pans out he can just leave with us unable to match.

I'd say qualifying offer, at most. But I would consider renouncing his rights, using the amnesty of Pek, buying out Miller and Webster, and trying to get us as far under the cap as possible to sign some players.

Gordon's a restricted FA after the season, maybe they could make a run at him? Who knows if the NBA would match a max deal type of offer.

I like the idea of getting far under the cap and gunning for Gordon and otherwise signing other players. Not a fan of Beasley getting a QO. 3 years at 5/6 mil per would be fine.

I just wish Beasley was putting together this year. I know he wants to be a great player and I know he wants to play for the Timberwolves and be here to grow with this team. I just hate the fact that a guy who wants all of this is about to lose it because he just can't play at his normal level for some reason. Guy has had some crap luck.

Its poor reasoning. He'll suck this year and we'll get him and he'll then outperform his contract. But I'm with you on it. He is a young player, I am all for letting him (and the rest of the team) work through this year and get a full off-season of work under Adelman and let the judging begin early next year.

^ Oh no I do agree that Kevin Love Is balling out of control and scoring the ball relentlessly, applause to him. But naturally, (with out of slump Beas) Beas is the best option, proved in on numerous occasions. Not knocking Love btw.

He's not great simply because he doesn't have the drive to be great. Has all the talent and potential in the world.

Although Beasley has been absolutely horrible for us this season, I would never call him lazy or unfocused because that's a flat out lie. The guy went back to k-state this summer and last summer and worked out all the time also him and durant spent a lot of time at montrose this fall before the season. He's a gym rat always has been, its a shame his hard work is not translating onto the court. I would give him until the trade deadline to get it together working with adelman and being healthy if he still cant fit in with the offense or get his shot to fall I think they should trade him and try to get Williams to play the 3 even though I don't believe that's his natural position.

I just don't feel like Kahn is going to sign Beasley to deal. Even if Beasley is going to go lower I don't think Kahn will commit and Beasley is just going to have to start over again. He likes it here a lot but at this point I don't think it is going to work out for him.

If SCB has a crap year I think Kahn will probably try to sign him slightly above market-value; SCB can still be a valuable 6th man, he'll have a year of familiarity and I think the team likes him. If SCB doesn't accept the offer I don't think Kahn pushes the issue.

LMAO its the first month of ball cmon ppl! IMO the reason Beas isn't producing like last year is because he isn't a primary ball handler anymore, anyone agree? Don't forget that his NBA comparison was Melo, they both really need the ball and need to fire up shots. With players like that you have to take the good with the bad (Melo, Iverson, Kobe etc)
