What happened to Chris Johnson this year?

How was there sucha huge drop in production this year for chris johnsn? he barely made 1000 yards...

He got PAIIIDDDDD. Six years, $56 million. But honestly, I don't really know since I never watched a mintue of any Titans game. could be the offensive line or the fact that Hassellback sucks and defenses stacked the line

$$$. He looked like he was out on a light jog against Atlanta so that's all I have to go on.

Chris Johnson held-out and missed training camp. I dont know who once said that not having Vince Young or a QB whos a threat to run himself didnt help Chris Johnson at all. That might be a reason.

The real question should be how Ryan Fitzpatrick turned out to be so crappy JUST as he got the extension. Since the game after he signed that contract he's been sucking and hasnt stopped since.

Everybody should have seen this coming and I predicted this coming into the season. There's a lot of factors that come in to play. 1. Chris Johnson is a small guy, even though he has had productive seasons, it does take a toll on his body. 2. Nobody has had a real breakout season after hitting 2000 yards. After that running backs decline, the best effort came from Barry Sanders when he hit almost 1500 yds after his 2000 yd season. He retired after. 3. He got his money.

Im sure many saw CJ2k on the decline, i don't think anybody who thought about it really expected much out of him. I think it was safe to say his best years was behind him. I don't blame missing training camp because he had all season to get caught up... he's a running back. But even with all that he did still have a 1000 yd season. But i definitely wouldn't have given him that type of money. it was dumb move from the Titans and everybody should have seen that coming.

Missing training camp is a huge thing. By the time he got into the games, he was already well behind everyone else. Combine that with the burden of a big contract, and it affected his entire game.

Nah, the biggest reason Fitz' stats and the Bills offense fell apart was the decimiated O Line at basically the exact same time as that extension, and the second biggest reason was defenses seemingly figuring out that all the team wanted to do was short pass. So you had Fitz going from lots of time and space to in a rush to throw and defenses playing the short passes - thus INTs. Pro football reference doesn't have game by game sack numbers for some reason but IIRC Fitz had been sacked like 2 times all year after 7 games and ended with 22 so you can see the difference

His weakness is that he's not a great deep ball thrower, but in terms of decision making from the pocket and accurate passing when giving enough protection, he still looked pretty solid to me the second half of the season and not as bad as his stats. There was lots of games like the first half of NE or the second half against MIA where he was playing like the top 10 QB from the first half of the year and driving the team down the field at will, it's just the other half of those games were loaded with picks. I've seen him play like that enough the last 2 years with healthier protection that I'm not that worried. Fitzpatrick was the Bills least big problem the second half of the year
