OKC - Eric Maynor down .. Ridnour?

Post#1 » by shrink » Sun Jan 8, 2012 6:07 am

Eric Maynor went down tonight with what looked like a very severe knee injury. Maynor has been a big part of the Thunder's success, providing a reliable back-up alternative to the up-and-down Westbrook.

It seems to me that a guy like Luke Ridnour would really appeal to them. He can be a vet back-up, and he's capable enough to give more minutes to if Westbrook is going nuts with the turn-overs. His low price-tag helps too.

Do you see anything on OKC to build a trade around?

Cook is a nice athlete at the 2. Might be available.

Sefolosha but they won't give him up for Ridnour.

Our needs don't matchup.

OKC won't break up there starting 5 or there 6th man of the year Candidate for anyone I'd assume. Maynor was looking good for them but he was their 8th man.

They would probably love to trade Luke, but would be unwilling to move the only players we would target in Harden, Thabo, and Ibaka. Unless there is a much larger deal to be had, I just don't see us being good partners due to our up and coming mentality vs. them contending now.

Would you take on Maynor for Ridnour, hoping Maynor has more value than Ridnour next year? Or maybe mix some things up to get Sefalosha, so they can give Harden a bigger role? What could we add?

Ridnour + Randolph + one of the firsts?

Ridnour and Love for Harden and Perkins/ibaka.

I'd do this but I don't think OKC would.

This. I honestly believe that harden is their second most talented player and I would be hard to get a trade for him. Also with the success they had last post season I highly doubt they would be willing to trade one of their key pieces.

Well that changes the situation I didn't think he would be done for the year and they definitely need a backup for westbrook, unless they make harden come off the bench as a point guard considering he is a very capable play maker and smart player.

I would love Thabo on this team. I wonder if Ridnour/Pek for Thabo/Nazr/Ivey would be enough.
Pek would be a nice fit there with their complete lack of low post scoring.

How has no one mentioned that Reggie Jackson is who OKC wanted as a back-up PG in the first place. Maynor is just holding the spot for him. OKC fans are excited to see Reggie finally get some minutes. They don't need a PG.

Yeah for a contender I can't think of a better backup for a headcase than a rookie.

I was about to post this , I've been a fan of Reggie for a long time so I'm glad he maybe gets an opportunity now.

OKC don't need to give Cook or any other piece just to get a backup pointguard when they have an athletic 6'3 and 7'0 wingspan promising PG hungry for minutes

There is a lot of pressure on OKC to get to the championships this year, before they have to start making decisions on who they can afford to keep in the future.

With a wildcard like Westbrook as their PG, Maynor's stability was a great asset for this team. They need veteran stability at the position right now a whole lot more than a kid trying to learn the hardest position in the NBA on the fly, in a compacted season with little pre-season.

Even if he has long arms.

I take Thabo maybe for Rid- Pek, but only because Barea makes Ridnour expendable.

I don't see us giving up Ridnour easily for a few reasons

1) Adelman seems to be reluctant to start Rubio just yet

2) Ridnour is a very good shooter and great back up PG.

3) Adelman likes playing 2 PGs at once.

Also I don't take Cook for ridnour. Cook would be a slight upgrade over Ellington in shooting...and that's it?

Thabo on the other hand could be what we're looking for from Malcolm Lee
