It seems to me that LAL are boosting bynums stats. Kobe saying bynum is now #2, using him more than Gasol. Getting everyone to think he has turned the corner and making a dwight for Bynum trade more palatable.

Yes, you are right. It is all a conspiracy. Bynum is really just a midget on stilts. The world has been fooled. You got him.

In case you didn't get the memo, Lakers need a PG. Their center position is filled.

Not that I necessarily agree with the notion, but is it so terrifically unbelievable? Apart from the idea that Kobe and management would actually have to be in agreement with one another, that is.

So the same management that traded Kobe's best friend without telling him, the same management that hired Mike Brown without telling him, is now all of a sudden in cahoots with Kobe to play up Bynum's strong performance this season. Yes. Yes it really is absurd.

Bynum is simply continuing to play the way he played the 2nd half of last season. There is nothing surprising about what he's doing right now. This is what he can do when he's healthy.

the notion that LAL is boosting bynum's stats has a very negative connotation towards bynum. it makes it seem like bynum isn't earning his stats, that they're somehow being fabricated. a better way to phrase it would be that LAL has given bynum more opportunity to prove himself, and he has come through with flying colors.

It could be simpler. It could be that management and Mike Brown are showcasing Bynum to see if there are worthwhile offers, such as a chance at Dwight. And Kobe may simply believe what he is saying about Drew.

Bynum is simply continuing to play the way he played the 2nd half of last season. There is nothing surprising about what he's doing right now. This is what he can do when he's healthy.

Well, not quite this, he's not going to maintain 16 rpg, but the offense certainly looks a lot like what we've seen in spurts for a while now. As the WT notes, the work with Ham is helping him realize his potential.

That's one interpretation, surely.

Another way to put it, definitely. The latter part, most certainly; Drew is definitely playing very well on his own merit, and not as a result of any kind of stat-fluffing scheme. If anything, his teammates have missed a few opportunities per game to go back to him when he's been hot.

hahaha thats funny.

Do not misnderstand my post though. I am not implying Bynum has not made significant strides because he has. What I am suggesting is the extra hype and attention he is getting may also have some ulterior motive behind it.

"ulterior motive" or "extra benefit". i'm sure the lakers are pleased bynum is playing at the level he is and as a result seemingly increasing his value as an asset, but thats cause bynum really is playing that well.

as far as the hype, the much reported comment about kobe saying "bynum is now #2" are greatly misreported. he just said that bynum has more of a scorers mentality as opposed to gasol that prefers to take what the defense gives him. there was more to it, but he didn't come out and say "bynum is now our number two", unless i totally missed it.
