Re: POTG: WAS vs. TOR
I voted for JV.
He was all over the place when we made our run. He had the steals and drew two offensive fouls. Watching him and Wall defend the pick and roll, and comparing it to McGee and Wall defending the pick and roll, is like night and day.
He clearly needs to get stronger, as he'll get posted up, but there aren't many bigs who know how to do that anyway.
He does things the simple and right way; simple dribbles, simple passes, move the ball, pass it out if you get the board. Considering how few people with his size and athleticism seem to have acquired these fundamental skills, you can't help but be excited for his potential to play a major, though not starring, role on a good team.

The Raps played 1/6, 1/7, 1/9, & 1/10 against the Wiz. Minny ran Toronto ragged the night before playing us.

I would put Blatche at .08 WTF, Crawford at .09 WTF (however, adjusted per 40 minutes played, he'd be up to .1 WTF)... and I'm sticking to .1 WTF for Javale.

These must be per minute WTFs. That would work out to Blatche having 3.2 WTFs per 40 minutes; Crawford at 3.6. I have McGee at .05 WTFs per minute -- 2.0 per 40.

These are my kind of advanced metrics. I wonder if historical data is available. I could see the Wizards having the highest per game WTF since the introduction of the 24 second clock.

I think that is a little low for McGee. His goaltending calls after the ball has bounced 1'+ off the backboard have to go in the WTF category, as do his attempts to lead the break. His mandatory desperation heaves after every offensive rebound he gets also have to be in there.

I love these boards.

Re: POTG: WAS vs. TOR
"WTFs" can be offset by "Oh Hell Yeahs!", though. McGee tends to turn in 2+ OHY's a night, which reduces his WTF/40 to league average.

Re: POTG: WAS vs. TOR
are these pace-adjusted wtfs? for what it's worth if you're going to compare McGee and Crawford, crawford is pound-for-pound the greater wtf-er

I think the OHYs should be in a separate category so they can be viewed both alone and in comparison to WTFs. There is an assist to turnover ratio so similarly there could be a OHY/WTF ratio.
While McGee's OHY/WTF ratio would surely be better than Crawfords their WTFs per 36 would probably be comparable.
I think we should probably contact 82games.com to see if they could add a couple of stats to their statistical database.

Re: POTG: WAS vs. TOR
Not sure I agree. His WTFs have gone down considerably, but I think the WTF to OHY is still somewhere around 2:1. It appears as league average only by virtue of the catastrophic 4:1 ratio we're used to.

Pancakes, you took the thoughts from my head. Your right, in all fairness to McGee and Blatche, Crawford is easily leading the team in WTF's per-36.

I thought I read second of b2b2b not the 3rd.
Our hope tonight is that CHI is on the 3rd of a b2b2b
and will overlook us just because we're the Wizards
and most teams should overlook us for now.
Love the new stat WTF/gm

my vote went to Jan but it was a team effort beginning
with Flip.
