Wayne Ellington and Wesley Johnson are dead last on the team in TS%, eFG%, Efficiency Rating, PER, Win Shares and almost every other advanced statistical metric known to man. In fact they are bottom in the entire league among guards in this categories too.

They just not simply bad, they are horrible. It's pretty obvious that they shouldn't be on the court at all, except during blowouts. At this point I don't care what happens to them: you can trade'em, cut'em, let them rot on the bench, just FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, DON'T LET'EM PLAY!

Johnson's been a little better at SF that last couple games but, yeah. Problem is injuries. We can't just not play them because there is nobody else to play. We need to bring in a real SG.

We do but we are putting a lot of responsibility on a guy who is coming off his second back surgery in a year, has played only two full seasons in his career, and has been fairly mediocre when he does play. I like Webster but he needs to be a backup with limited minutes and we really can't expect a whole lot out of him this year.

I'd say Darko is in the dead weight category as well. Has one good quarter every 5 games which isn't enough.

Agreed that injuries have us limited in what we can do. When everyone's healthy we can maybe get it more defined, but if D-Will can't play SF yet and Beas is off the bench, then even with Webster or Barea or Lee at SG it still leaves some holes.

Best I would say when all healthy is starting unit of Rubio, Barrea, Webster, Love, Randolph with Ridnour, Lee, Beas, Williams and Miller/Pek as the 2nd unit.

Do we really need a new thread to show every way our SG and SF position is playing poorly?

It's Adelman's job to figure this out. We're 10 games in to his evaluation. There's no offense in place. The team hasn't been allowed to be together working for even a month yet. He's doing his job the way he's inclined to do it, it's nowhere near time to start calling for immediate changes.

Are we no longer excited to have an all-time great coach to figure this out? Why do we need a daily buzz-kill to rehash the same topic?

Ten day contracts are cheap, and I think these guys could fill a role here for a couple weeks, if that's how long it will take until Webster is back. Need to make a trade first though, to open a roster spot.

Last I heard anything, Webster 2 more weeks, Miller 2 or 3 weeks, and Lee 3 weeks. Lee insists on twitter he'll be back sooner, he was saying 2 weeks yesterday;

I'd much have Miller playing C in the fourth quarter then Randolph or Darko. Webster playing SG over Ridnour, Wes and Ellington. Lee might pair well with JJ off the bench...

I honestly don't know enough about him to judge, but I remember when we made the trade for him I went and read through the comments in Portlands newspaper. Everyone there was pissed, and most said he was the guy that carried the team when Roy was out. And at least in my opinion, he looked pretty dang good the last couple of weeks last year when he was finally healthy. He at least looked 100 times better than what we've seen from the SG position so far this year.

Martell had some GREAT games back in his early Portland days (when healthy) and was a great shooter.

I think the biggest problem with Wes is he's well... a little old?

Wesley Johnson started his basketball-playing life as a guy who was great at three point shooting, but had to grow into other aspects of the game. In the pros, Johnson has turned himself into a player who most often parks himself behind the three-point line and waits for an opportunity to shoot.

Wes was a guy whose nomadic pursuit of a college, and his problems with what he felt was harsh treatment from the coaching staff at Iowa State, earned him the reputation as a guy who was "soft" and was not great at dealing with adversity. In the pros, Johnson shies away from contact and is one of the least physical players in the NBA. On the rare occasions when he puts the ball on the floor and attempts to make a move towards the basket, he starts from farther out and does it with so little aggression that it is almost always ineffective. He excels at converting easy baskets in transition attempts, and can get confidence if he starts shooting well early, but seems to fold when things do not go his way early on.

His demeanor and his background all suggest that he would be exactly the type of player that Johnson has turned into in the pros. Aside from a few months at Syracuse, his entire basketball career has followed this same pattern. That is why, when it comes to hopes about Johnson's future, they seem so slim. His ceiling seems to be a one-dimensional role player/spot-up shooter, and that may be a best case scenario.
