He is not saying anything that even the players don't know.

I'm hoping for a good effort on defense. We have been crappy on D this year. We are rated 20th right now, it think we were 3rd or fourth last year.

we need a player to actually push the ball

magic are 5th in points allowed

I was under the impression, since there is no clear rule on team names that have no 's' on them, that the plural is used in cases where the team name is used, and the singular is used when just the city is used.

For example,

"Orlando is playing fantastic basketball coming out of the all-star break."
"The Magic are coming off a rough stretch of road games against playoff teams."

This is similar to British English. "Liverpool are heavy favorites tonight."

The press uses plural. "Magic beat Kings." "Heat beat Nets."

If we lose tonight because we're playing the same crappy style against contenders/good teams, than yes i kind of want that to happen.

But it's tough because i also want us to win, so....

No. I'm hoping the Magic get rid of Otis. Bring someone new in to make some moves.

My comment was meant as a statement of fun, and it was a positive statement! :)

To answer your question, here are some "collective nouns:" family, group, collection, and assembly. These are singular words and required the conjugation of "to be" as "is." Example: my family is in another country. One can see this in that the word can be made plural, as in families, groups, collections, and assemblies. So, yes, one grammatically could pluralize "Orlando Magic." Example: the Orlando team of 1994/95 and the team of 2008/09 are the two Magics that went to the Finals.

Anyhow, this is not grammar school, it "is" a place we can all love our Magic!

Umm.

The major writers for the O-Sen do use the plural when referring to a singular Magic. That is true.

So, to get this thread back on track.... does anyone think Wafer gets PT tonight? i hope so especially if JJ continues to struggle... i just want this game to start, this is the least confident i've been about a game in the season, the Blazers are severely underratted, i hope we don't take them lightly.

Outside of Dwight, we really don't have a favorable match up. Unfortunately for us, like when we play all good teams, our 3's have to be falling in order for us to have a chance. LMA is going to have his way all night, and we still don't have anyone that can step up and defend Crawford. And I expect the Wallace/Hedo match up to be similar to the one he had with Deng. Hedo is going to struggle against more athletic, non-lazy, SF's. Blazers' overall energy and effort will beat us first, then LMA, then their bench will finish the job. I hope we win, but the Blazers are the perfect team to expose us of all our weaknesses.

They've got a pretty sizable advantage at most positions, minus center, but Camby isn't a slouch.

This will be a gigantic challenge.

Portland has gone through a lot lately, so i'm glad to see that they're having some success so far this season.

Still, tonight would be a good night for them to randomly suck.

Crawford hits at least one shot from full court, behind his back, falling down.

Knowing Crawford, he'd probably throw an alleyoop to himself from out of bounds.

We need this win to show people(us) that we can still beat good teams....I just hope it's a quality win and not a 3pt shootout....I know that when our 3's are falling we can beat any team but for me when we win that way in recent years it almost feels like a fluke....It shouldn't feel that way but man there are times when i feel like our whole team minus 1 or 2 guys is in a shooting slump and can't hit anything so when we win primarily because of hitting 3's i feel like it's never going to happen again..once in a lifetime lol....I want to see some easy buckets tonight by design and not by mistake.........

This is the kind of game where SVG needs to step up. Perhaps play Liggins to guard Crawford, or Von Wafer to spark our offense. We actually need a change to beat this kind of teams.

you can count on that.....................to not happen.....Stan is notorious for riding the same players whether they're in a slump or not...Tired or not...In a way he's the ultimate optimist....hoping for players to turn it around lol
