Then in threads asking who the best PG in the NBA was, people would respond with "Michael Jordan."

In threads asking who the best shooting guard is, people would list vastly inferior players because they were better jump shooters or something.

Since San Diego basketball fans are now in the dark with respect to
goings-on in the NBA, could someone please tell me how in the world
Jordan is piling up such outrageous stats? All I've seen is box
scores and the occaisional slam-dunk highlight on ESPN, but I don't
even know, for instance, if he's playing point guard, shooting guard,
mostly around the basket, scoring on outside jumpers, or what. From
the few highlights I've seen, it seems he has carte blanche to go
wherever on the court he feels. But what's he got that makes him
special? I don't remember him having a particularly good outside
shot at UNC, and there are plenty of 6'6" players who can jump in
the NBA.

"Although I was hoping to be the first to mention it, nonetheless I want to
start a groundswell movement to pick up Steve Nash with the 14th pick in the
upcoming NBA draft. Although an underclassman may have more potential as an
athlete, I'm all for picking up a player with a little more maturity. Nash
is 6'3", plays point guard, and can score in bunches. Although I don't want
people to think he's Randy Brown, he should be able to fill that void created
by Brown's departure. And the prospect of educating a young player for three
years and then watch him demand huge dollars (and/or possibly leave for same)
before they reach their prime sickens me. Nash (or any good available senior)
would certainly be the best choice in my opinion...

You would be an idiot to drop Rider in order to pick up Kobe, Rider, while yes, he is a head case, will get you 20ppg, and 4 boards 4 assists and a steal, Kobe on the other hand is not even the 6th man on the Lakers, he's barely the seventh man, this would be an idiotic moev in my opinion because even when he is healthy, Kobe just won't get the minutes. You may not like Riderm but he's a good fantasy guard.

just something here to chew on for all those arguing whether kobe will
do well or not.

kobe reportedly did very well in his first summer league game yesterday.
while he had 4 traveling violations for a total of 5 turnovers (mostly
attributed to "nervous energy"), he scored 27 points in 26 minutes
against the pistons. he drew early (way too early) comparisons to
micheal jordan from one of the pistons assistant coaches:

"I think the kid is a tremendous athlete. I don't want to
compare anybody to Jordan. But he's Jordan-like in the way he makes
spectacular plays, the way he can get his shot, the way he can handle
the ball, and he has a great court temperament. You'll see that once he
gets some experience, those traveling calls will disappear."

yesterdays times reports jerry west referred to bryant as "by far the
most skilled player we've ever worked out... by far..." his workouts
were a little more than some traditional running and jumping as he was
matched up against 1st round knick selection dontae jones, and "clearly
outplayed" him.

last year, king forward lionnel simmons was reportedly ranting and
raving about some HS kid (kobe bryant) who was more than holding his own
against NBA players during pick-up games in the summer. this was last
year as kobe was entering the 12th grade. also in those pickup games
was laker guard eddie jones. who knows? he may have provided his two
cents on the deal before the lakers pulled the trigger on this one.

Am I the only one who thinks Pippen is just as good as Jordan? If he
shot 30 times a game, he would average 30+ points. He's just as good of
a passer, he rebounds better, and he plays defense just as well. He just
doesn't shoot every time he touches the ball. He shoots better, too.
Is there anyone who agrees with me?
