TI: Would the Hawks take Ersan and Gooden for Hinrich?

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 9:52 pm

Idea stolen from Doc Holiday and modified (he had Brockman instead of Ersan)

With Horford out for perhaps the season, could we pull this off? Hawks want to win now.

For those not familiar with Hinrich, he's had a torn labrum and been out all season. He might return at the end of January, but I'm not sure. He is due $8 million this year and is an expiring contract.

I'd throw in a second round pick as well or modify it to a bigger deal if needed. Also send them the maximum allowed $3 million in cash.

Is there a chance we could do this? Ersan played very well against the Hawks in the 2010 playoffs.

Would also clear up our logjam at PF.

Any Bucks fan does this, but not sure the Hawks are that desperate. We're talking four years of salary they can't amnesty.

I doubt they would, but I sure as hell would.

Hammond wouldn't do it because then we wouldn't have a backup center. Being completely serious.

No.

I'd offer up Delfino (or Ersan) and Gooden for Williams though.

I think you are right.

If we loaded up the package with Ersan, 2nd round pick and $3 million cash, Hammond would be offended and feel he's giving up way, way too much.

Good thought on Delfino. He'd help the Hawks as well.

I'd gladly trade Ersan, Delfino and Gooden to the Hawks for Hinrich's expiring, even assuming Hinrich doesn't play this year. That would be a fair deal for the Hawks IMO.

But to Twirl's point, Hammond would probably keel over and be terrified in what he's "losing".

I would do it, of course. Hinrich sucks now but expires. Plus it opens up a roster spot to go get a real backup C. Maybe we can buy out Hinrich so he can go to the Lakers.

i sat directly next to senator kohl before the charlotte game for over an hour, but when i first got there hammond was there and we talked for maybe 10 minutes again and i got a nice picture with my duaghter and both of them. i asked him 3 or 4 questions before he left and i wanted SOOOO badly to ask about gooden but i just couldnt because the senator was there and i couldnt make myself ask direct questions abouyt players and whether they actually think they suck or not...lol.

but anyway, in goodens case, i regret that i didnt very much. i should have just came right out and asked what they thought of that decision in retrospect.... even if they hadnt answered i think their body langauge in each others presence would have said a million words.

I don't think the PG position is a priority for Bucks right now. I think that a reasonable player to go after is Spurs DeJuan Blair, who can play an above average reserve C or as a good PF. I don't know what Bucks can give that works for Spurs and works as a trade as well though

Hinrich's expiring is worth way more then Gooden with one or two insignificant veterans. If we took Williams maybe but there is no way we'd get an expiring without our pick and/or young prospects involved. I would love to get Hinrich though.

Good trade, not sure they do it but good trade. Hammond eats humble pie on this deal, so I expect for him to do it he'd want to see more than the expiring coming back so he can sell people on a prospect.

Hinrich would be a GREAT addition at the two as well. Also, I bet Skiles would LOVE to have him.

Guys, I'm not thinking of Hinrich as an addition at all. I'm assuming he's made of glass and done.

I'm looking at this as a way to dump Gooden's contract.

The other upside for those of us on this board is that it would force Skiles to play Tobias, Leuer, Sanders, etc AND open up that roster spot if Przy decides he wants to play (and I don't think he plays this year)

We've got too many guys under contract that are functional NBA players who could be decent role players on other teams.

leuers style seems like he would be perfect for the spurs. i bet you we could get blair for leuer straight up even after just 9 games.
who does leuer for blair with what we know so far?

i think id have to say no, but pretty cool thinking of his value that way.

Hawks fan that likes Ersan but not Gooden. I have a feeling we are going to be lotto bound without Horford and I am not even mad because it might be a blessing in disguise. Get the 1st pick and take Drummond all our problems solved. With that in mind we would deal you Hinrich for another 1st but you guys are not good trade partners. The Hawks are not interested in taking back salaries like Gooden's. What is wrong with Beno?

It might turn Hammond's stomach to help out a team we're competing for a playoff spot for.

Of course I would do this in a heartbeat.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
