Wilson Chandler

Post#1 » by hhvo » Thu Jan 12, 2012 7:16 pm

Let's be real, the Bobcats aren't going to get any establish Superstar in free agency or trade for that matter. Why not go after a young and upcoming player like Wilson Chandler?!

I watched him play often while he was with the Knicks, I really love his game. He plays hard on both side of the court (only knicks to do so last season), plays good D at the 3 and can score in a variety of ways with range. As a 6'8 SF, I think he will fit well with the Bobcats and can develop into a Superstar. Personally, I would pay 8-9 MM for Chandler, maybe more so the Nuggets can't match. Make it happen CHO!!!

I really like Wilson Chandler hes a non ego guy and I would go after him aggressively if we draft a PF

Kemba/Kendall Marshall(after trading DJ for a pick)
Hendo/Reggie Williams
Wilson Chandler/Bad Porn
Anthony Davis/Mullens
Dwight Howard(still loling at the other thread)Bismack/Mullens

Stun, I noticed you put in Kendall Marshall after 'trading DJ for a pick'. What pick do you think we could possibly even get for Augustin, and would you really pick Kendall Marshall with that pick?

I was just about to post this. If you have to choose DJ or Kendall Marshall you take DJ every time.

If we end up drafting a Sullinger and still have a hole at the three, Wilson Chandler is probably to way to go. He's young, has great potential and at the very least you know we'll be getting a 17-7 type at the SF, more if he blows up.

We should then change gears and look at any way to dump Tyrus because the 4 spot will be loaded. We'll let Diaw drop off the books.

DJ/Kemba / Combo guard yielded from Tyrus Trade or FA
Hendo / Reggie / " "
Wilson / UPS
Sullinger / DJW / Biyombo
Mullens / Diop / Biyombo

That team, IMO would mark a return to the playoffs with plenty of upside. We'd have strong rebounding at the 3-4, post scoring with Sully/Mulley, outside shooting at the 1-3 and a decent bench.

You've got me nodding so far, but then you do this:

How does Mullens start on this roster in the 2012/2013 season?

I would rather some how get Drummond, trade TT for late 1st, resign DJ (at a reasonable price):

DJ, Kemba, Marshall
Hendo, Reggie, Kemba
Wilson, Corey, UPS?
Drummond/White/Biyombo/Mullen
Mullen/Drummond/Biyombo/Diop

Now thats a team I would be excited about. Salary cap would work out nicely as well.

Why wouldn't you start Mullen in 2012/2013? Base on his offense he could start today. As a 22 yr old having limited opportunity and improving drastically every game he plays, you're saying he can't improve his game/defense, to be an NBA starter next year?

not necessairly, this is going along the assumption tat we trade dj for a mid teens to early 20's pick, kendal marshall is a lot better fit next to kemba, hes 6'4, a pass first pg and better at defense then dj, he would offer a perfect yin to kembas yang going forward, i would love to have a poor mans rondo off the bench. to answer ur question i would def trade dj for marshall straight up considering our situation

Because unless we hit the jackpot and land the first pick to draft Drummond, Mullens is going to be better than any other Center we'll be able to afford in FA after signing Chandler. And he's better than any of the other 5s available in the draft. I penciled in Sullinger based on the likely scenario that we draft 4-8 and Drummond is gone.

None of this is a bad thing. We've really hit the jackpot with Byron and the kid is a player. As I've mentioned before, I think Mullens is a 16/8 type guy if we start him right now and play him 36 mins.

Next to a big bodied rebounder like Sullinger, he could be even better.

Can't? No, I'm not saying can't. I just don't think he's very good.

i respect ur basketball knowledge, but u obviously have a man crush for sullinger and white centers, mullys a beast no doubt about that but a mully/sully frontcourt would get obliterated defensively, if mully is our future at 5, biyombo/anthony davis are the only options tbh

Mullens needs him some Shawn Kemp, reason for Hawes breakout this season. Or, Oakley.

He's not going to get very far shooting 17-18 fters all the time, with 1-2 post up moves. He needs to start banging in the paint, scoring from in close. Teams wil start closing out on him soon.

I'm fine with Davis also. In fact I would probably take him over Sullinger. But again, I think Drummond, Lamb and Davis are gone top 3 and I'm basing this on the most likely scenario that we draw 4-8.

If he can become the rebounder/beast defender/passably competant offensive player we hope he can be, Biyombo could really complement Mullens well but he is so raw right now, it might be a season or two before he's ready for starters minutes and thats assuming he's not a lemon.

As far as crunk's comments about Mullens not being a starting center - he's already demonstrably played better than half the starting centers in the league when he's gotten regular minutes this year. Who would you propose as a realistic replacement for us who will relegate him to the bench, keeping in mind it will have to be someone we can afford in FA after we've spent 9 mil signing a Wilson Chandler?

Can we atleast see Mullens play a half season before we say that he is better than half the centers in the league?

Saying he's played better in limited minutes than half the starting centers in the league really isnt much of a bold statement; there are some pretty mediocre big men out there. Once you're half way through the list, you start seeing names like Jermaine oneal (5pts, 4 reb, 9 PER), 37 yo marcus camby (3 pts, 8 reb on 36% shooting), Haywood (5pts, 6 reb), Joel Anthony, etc

In the games where he's played over 18 minutes, he's averaged 12.5pts / 5.25 rebounds on shooting right around 50%. And those numbers are achieved in only approx 21 minutes per game, largely against the other team's starters so its not like he's been playing garbage time. He's also the best free throw shooting big in the league so far this season having gone to the line over 20 times before logging his first miss on tuesday.

Last game when he played a career high 26 minutes, a posted 15/10.

As long as he continues to rebound and defend sufficiently enough to not be a liability on those ends, Silas should play him as much as possible. On nights where he comes out and is shooting abysmally, relegate him to the bench. Those nights have been in the minority so far though.

Hes playing quiet well tonight as well with 12 pts at the half. The Dirk Nowitzki comparisons are hilarious, but I think he could average 13, maybe 14 a game with lengthy minutes.
