Dwight Howard rumors: Do we still have a chance???

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:30 pm

I haven't heard any of the Dwight to Atlanta rumors in a while, I want to know if we've given up on trading for Dwight or if we're still in discussions. Anyone got any updates???

The speculative greatest trade chip the Hawks had for him just went down for the season.

I'm speechless at the Horford injury, this not only endangers our chances of the Playoffs, but it also destroys our chance at Dwight..

Didn't the Hornets trade Chandler for Okafor while Chandler was injured?

If I'm right, ORL may prefer taking a player who guarantees that they'll tank.

Or maybe they'll agree to take Smith (with Joe) instead, now that Horford's injured. I'd love to pair Howard with Horford inside. Their games would mesh so beautifully. Those 2 with Teague would be fantastic.

By the way, call me loser or whatever, but maybe now's the time to tank. I cannot see how we'll have any chance at all in the playoffs, if we indeed do make the playoffs.

Plus, a lottery pick makes Horford/Joe/pick that much more attractive of an offer to ORL (if we can get a pre-signed Dwight Howard).

I'm not gonna call you a loser, I agree with tanking this season, but only because of the Draft Class, if it was any other class that wasn't as stacked as this one then no way but picks 1-15 this year are loaded. But I expect Dwight to be traded by the end of this season or if not I expect him to bolt from Orlando, but if he agreed to exercise his player option with Orlando and then demanded a trade then it's a possibility.

We'll only see that if Dwight agrees to sign an extension with us which I highly doubt unless we keep Smoove, Remember Al's out for the rest of the season and maybe playoffs.

Draft class is way overrated. Drummond is not even on the level that DeAndre Jordan was in his freshman year. We don't need Anthony Davis unless we are going to keep playing Al at Center. I think we are lotto bound but it only causes more problems on one hand. On the other hand, it may force us to re-load. What if a PF or C is the best person on the board. We either have to move Al or Josh in a trade or we have to move Josh to SF or bench permanently. I hoping for the lottery.

Teague
Joe
Josh
Anthony Davis
Al

or

Teague
Joe
Josh
Al
Drummond

would be ideal.

I can feel it already we are going to get that #1 pick. Al is the new Tim Duncan. David Robinson went down and the Spurs got Duncan. It is just going to be reversed this time. Al goes down and we get Davis or Drummond.

what if we can't get davis or drummond but still end up with a top 5 pick, then who would we draft? or should we trade that pick for another lottery pick and other assets? maybe pick up Henson or Zeller or Perry Jones. Just throwing out some big guy's name from the top of my head

Isn't Drummond going back to school? I thought he said he wasn't gonna declare for the draft.

Not big on Lamb. Not big on Barnes. Not that big on Perry Jones either. Sullinger is intriguing due to the Kevin Love comparisons, but I am not in love with him either. I don't know. I personally, think we need to trade Kirk to the Lakers since they keep mentioning needing a PG to stop penetration. We could get there TPE and the better of there 2 1st round picks. That would give us a lotto pick and a late first rounder. Also, as stated earlier I think this draft is blown out of proportion

Big Board

1 Anthony Davis
2 Drummond
3 Sullinger
4 Perry Jones
5 Harrison Barnes
6 Jeremy Lamb
7 Thomas Robinson

I honestly think that if we are in the lotto and end up with a late lotto pick (outside top 10) that we should trade up using whatever assets we're willing to give up.

Do you guys really think we're not a playoff team without Al?

Teague, JJ, Marv, Smoove, Z with TMac and Kirk off the bench with role players like Rad and Ivan is still a good team.

UNLESS we trade Kirk (whom I really like) for picks and in turn make our pick higher. They probably won't resign Kirk anyway. We got Teague.
