Eric Gordon watch

He is out again for 2-3 weeks.
If I'm correct, january 25 is the deadline to offer him an early extension.

Re: Eric Gordon watch
Do you think the injury is legit?
If not, EJ is ready to g.t.f.o. already.

He already missed 6 of 7 games prior to this injury.
It also hurts any potential return value the Hornets can get for him as far as players go, they might get a first round pick, maybe two. A price more then half the league would pay gladly.
This reminds me of Baron Davis all over again, guy had two injury plagued years and got traded to Golden State for peanuts, then got his health back and excelled.

Wolves fan here.
Are you guys interested in Gordon and what would you give up?
Wolves fans seem to be content with giving up Derrick Williams and anything else not named Love or Rubio.

Pacers are obviously interested in Gordon. Would you fork over George, Psycho T, picks to get him is the question or you guys think you can get him cheaper? Wolves obviously building around Rubio + Love and as mentioned, most Wolves fans are putting Williams on the table.

I got you now. For a minute I had trouble figuring out why we were talking about the Wolves. LOL
I think we'd give Granger and picks over George and Psycho T, actually.

I think the Hornets would like younger players + picks to rebuild completely. Trading Gordon for Granger + picks does them no good and would be better off keeping Gordon. I think George would have to be the center piece of any Gordon deal.
If you want to move Granger for a SG, Ellis is your best.

^ If anything, as far as Gordon goes, I think the Pacers would rather explore options involving signing him outright in some fashion, rather than a trade.

Re: Eric Gordon watch
Why would we gut our competitive team for one player off of a really bad team. Throw in the fact he is dealing with a knee injury and it makes no sense at all.
I always hear that EJ was the centerpiece of the CP3 deal, but let's be real here, Aminu, Kaman, & Minny's unprotected '12 pick wasn't filler. NO's does not deserve to get paid again (ie.CP3) for EJ. Often times his asking price is close to what they got for CP3. That's not how it works. We could easily wait it out for his services until 2013, and possibly get a little hometown discount.
The fact he was quoted as saying he'd like to play here, and that we have plenty of capspace, should also be a factor when determining his value. Otherwise 2013 works perfectly with Indy's salary-schedule.

^ Very solid take. As long as Gordon doesn't want to play w/ Love and Rubio, you're set.

Love the tandem.
Hopefully Minny can sort out the rest of their roster, but you're right, EJ would look great in their lineup.
1-Ricky/Ridnour
2 EJ/ Ellington
3 DWill / Beasley
4 KLove
5 ?? Tolliver/AR

Yeah. I don't mean to bang the drum in the wrong forum, but I hadn't really thought of the possiblity of getting Gordon for nothing but shedding salary (which we can do this offseason, if we choose). That would take some patience (but we would hang onto Williams).

Not to be a bummer here, but if you're planning on this off-season, no matter how much money you guys OR US (the Pacers) throw at him, New Orleans can just match. Plus, keep in mind your cap holds up there in Minnesota. If you renounce Beasley, Randolph, and Tolliver, and waive the un-guaranteed contracts of Brad Miller and Martell Webster, you'll still only have around $10 million in cap space. If you have hopes of keeping Beasley as well, kiss a chunk of that goodbye as well.

Re: Eric Gordon watch
Well, most players would just go to restricted free agency, find the biggest contract they can, and then if they get matched, so be it.
Gordon has 2 interesting things working in this situation:
1. Injury history - this will strongly make him lean towards taking the biggest deal possible. This is 10-generations-of-wealth-if-I-handle-it-right money, and only a fool would take the QO and risk getting seriously injured (shaun livingston style). Look at Brandon Roy - guy's out of the league, but at least he got his 80 million dollars.
2. The NOH terrible situation - this is the only thing making it possible that he would take the QO, or sign a 1 year max deal to get matched then go into UFA. This franchise is dooooomed. They have no fans, they have no owner, and david stern is already dicking him around. Would you want to play there?
So I think our best bet, knowing that NOH is going to match anything, is to offer Gordon a one year max deal, telling him we want to give him a long-term contract, but because of his RFA status, we know NOH would match it. You get to be a UFA in one year, and go anywhere you want, Eric! A nudge, nudge, wink, wink kinda deal.

Re: Eric Gordon watch
Gordon won't take a one year deal with his injury history. Our best best is that he really wants to come here specifically and a S&T is organized.

Re: Eric Gordon watch
Before this latest setback everyone was saying EJ should get near-max dollars. As things stand EJ's not getting anywhere close to that figure. This is all the more reason for Eric to sign a Q.O., reprove himself, then test unrestricted free agency in 2013.
He should only accept a lower offer if he feels desperate and isn't sure of his recovery, but as things stand, he has probably lost $20-28 mill. Do you think he'll take Gallinerri money? There might be time to recover some of it this season, but time is of the essence, and now they just mentioned another month of rehab.
EJ might actually have to restore his value next season, and a QO is the perfect way to do it. In all reality a one-year tender is only a reminder to the Horents that they are about to lose him for nothing.
Personally, I don't believe he is as hurt as he is leading on, but rather he is pissed about the situation. Also, Gordon is so confident that I don't think he'll accept 4/40, when he was expecting 5/75-85 (15-17 per).
