Man if Dwight would have made more of his FTs he'd have an even crazier statline lol

Howard missed 18 FT; he could have had 60. But, if he was hitting his FTs he would not have been intentionally fouled.

As an aside, even at a 21/39 clip, Howard was scoring 1.07 points per possession. That is quite OK. Thus, it was a horrible idea for the GSW to play like this. Howard was scoring around the NBA average per possession, AND the team was rapidly in the penalty, AND players were raking up fouls. This was a bad decision for Coach Mark Jackson.

I think Wilt had a season where he AVERAGED about 50/22....so likely there was a 50-30 game or two.....

I don't think Hack A Shaq was the original game plan. How it got implemented was pretty flawed,in that if you really have just one spare big...you don't want your bigs fouling Dwight, and you don't want to allow the FG and then give the and one. As much as Dwight used that running hook across the lane, seems I'd have Ellis or Robinson drop down to double, take away those dribbles, make Dwight take a face up 10 ft J. When I DO send Dwight to the like...I'd have McGuire or Tyler in for a few plays to be the "fouls to give" guy. Instead GSW literally ran out of bigs, and did slow the tempo.
Despite Dwight, The Magic were only up by about 4-5 rebounds most of the way,and GSW had the better FG%. It was pointed out that the FT strategy meant GSW was not getting quick transitions on offense.....and with Ellis/Robinson WAY too fast...that was an advantage GSW needed.

As for GSW's record.....they beat the Bulls,Heat,Knicks. They had a halftime lead in most of their losses and have had each starter miss at least one game, with Curry missing several after a terrific game vs D Rose.

Dwight.......is indeed Superman. No other Big is currently on the same page (or chapter) in overall talent. Otherwise......Orlando should have tried to get Pietrus back. There's a lack of a quick defender there. Ellis wanted to feed teammates as THE PG last night, but it might have been a better plan to ask him to score 40+....which was doable. Reddick could not D Monta if allowed to use a canoe paddle and a Rottweiler. :meditate:

Got to give Hedu some credit and I am no Hedu fan....but he's a CRAFTY guy who spots the opportunity,is gonna make plays the moment you overlook him...which is why he is at his best playing with Dwight. I liked Ryan A as a Cal player. His game in ways is a lot like David Lee's,but Lee outplayed him by more than I expected. Ryan has to mix it up in the paint more. He can be a pretty effective rebounder but rebounding is a matter of focus and it seems the focus is on Ryan shooting the 3 a bit much, while there's more he can do to be a second threat in the paint and on the boards.

On general philosophy....I would like to see the Magic keep Dwight, get more creative about getting players to help him. I'd ALSO love to see him think that next summer he ought to sign up with GSW, to play with Monta-Lee-Curry and make GSW a Dynasty. Seriously dude...Brooklyn? I would not want to spend my winters in BROOKLYN.

Why in the world was Dwight not on David Lee the ENTIRE time? :-? Didn't get that one at all. Dwight was playing amazing defense on Lee, but when he wasn't on him, Lee was the guy (not Ellis) that was keeping the Warriors in this game for most of the first 3 quarters.

Lee was too far from the paint much of the time. Magic like to keep Dwight near the paint. So, when Lee moves outside that zone, he is covered by Davis, Anderson or Hedo.
