Don't look now, but...
Dwight is 104 points shy of breaking nick andersons mark as the all time scoring leader for Orlando. He's averaging 20.5, and at this rate will break the record in Boston next week... I hope he breaks it at home against LA however...

oh god he's going to skip town w/the record? greaT!

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Re: Don't look now, but...
I would normally be excited about something like this, but knowing that there's a chance Dwight leaves, it's kind of killed it for me. i would prefer Nick Anderson keep it (i might be biased though, cause he's my favorite Magic player of all time), but it's not likely.
Edit: even though i was too young to watch him play. lol.

a chance? he wants to be traded! he doesn't want to be here at all! it's amazing his teammates try as hard as they do

I would not like to see Dwight Howard break Nick Anderson's record and then leave.
I still have hope that he will stay and we should have closure on his status in almost exactly two months.

He wouldn't be the first to want to get traded but wind up staying
As for nick anderson's scoring record, who cares. That was meant to be broken.

What's it matter if he breaks the record and leaves? Nick Anderson set the record and he was traded away, why shouldn't it go both ways?
Dwight's already achieved so much with this franchise that a scoring record seems only fitting, IMO.

I'm not sure I care all that much, but I can see how this would not be preferred from a fan's perspective. Nick did not want to get traded at all and was all about Orlando Magic, whereas Dwight is no longer similar in that regard. I mean it absolutely killed Nick when that relationship ended.

Are you sure about that? I seem to remember Nick wanting out. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.
Dwight deserves it IMO. Easily the best all time Magic player so far.

Well it has been so long that whenever someone questions my memory from that time, I have to question myself as well. But that's what I remember.

Re: Don't look now, but...
Here are some quotes from Nick.

I also did a quick scan of some other prior Sentinel articles on Nick, and it is pretty amazing to read how much this guy loves the city and the team.

"It broke my heart, just broke it, when I left Orlando because it felt like my family had traded me away," Anderson said. "I've still got that empty feeling, like something is missing, and I can't shake it."
By the time the Magic traded him to Sacramento in 1999 -- the start of their major salary-cap purge -- he was a shell of himself. He never really found a niche with the Kings, and after two seasons, he was traded to Memphis. He played one season there before being dealt to Cleveland, where he retired before he played a game.
"It just wasn't the same, being anywhere other than Orlando. I fell into a funk and never came out. I just didn't have the fire to play anywhere else," he said. "I wasn't the same person. It was no longer fun. It was just a job."

I wish there were more players like nick in the league, or at least on this team...

Re: Don't look now, but...
We, on the real tip, need to retire Nick's jersey. Just saying.
I think he's done enough for this organization as a player, and now as an ambassador, to warrant the honor. And who better to be our first?

It wont happen. He just wasn't a good enough player to warrant it.
