it wouldn't hurt to give this guy a look. like TMac, he has a high basketball IQ. his offense was in the decline (but i personally think it was just a one year slump), but his rebounding, defense, and shot blocking are still above average.

Since when has his rebounding been above average?
And how do you know any of his skills are "still above average"? He's missed 18 months. And his offense rating vs defense was net +0 last year.

18 months removed from that or any major athletic competition and conditioning and you want to bring him into a locker room with Tracy McGrady already complaining about minutes?

No I'm good. It would send the wrong message to the team. Hey guys this fat washed up guy has not played in over a year but He'll be taking somebody's minutes and contribute more than {player X}.

Could easily rub players the wrong way. And the depth chart would stink unless he's playing off the bench. And then we'd still need a center and then his conditioning again.

Wallace holds appeal for several contending teams, but all wonder about his shape and conditioning after sitting out 18 months. Wallace played 79 regular season games for the Celtics in his final year, but the organization never felt he truly got into playing shape until the playoff run to the NBA Finals in 2010. In a limited role, several GMs told Yahoo! they still believe his scoring and defending ability would probably be better than anyone else available to them.

One NBA GM with potential interest in signing Wallace said, “I’d be worried about his conditioning in a condensed season.”

In his 15 seasons with Washington, Portland, Atlanta, Detroit and Boston, Wallace averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

how the hell would it send the wrong message. trading away players to get a center would hurt morale alot worst then bringing a locker room guy like Sheed, to go along TMac and Stackhouse.

not to mention, like TMac and Stackhouse, if Sheed is still in shape, he would take the vet minimum.

The Hawks are thinking about bring in a free agent Big..... Rasheed Wallace is talking about making a come back........ Hmmmmmmm. 1+1= 2 it could work. But other players I believe that could help us out are Nenad Krstic, Przybilla, Fancisco Elson, Ike Diogu, Kirilenko, Kenyon Martin, and Powe, or maybe we could trade for YI Jianlian. Something like 2nd round pick for Yi or rights to switch first round picks in 2012 as long as our pick isn't a lotto.

No thanks on Rasheed. He's got a big potential to disrupt a locker room and didn't seem motivated in Boston. Better options exist.

I like Sheed. Always have, always will. Sure, he has his flaws, but he's also always been passionate, which IMO is something we desperately need. And hell, we already have 2 2001 All-Stars, might as well add a third

I'm gonna have to say yes on this one. As a big man he can potentially rebound and control the ball and I'm seeing signs of disgruntledness from Tracy.

He'll be on the bench. Not cheering and he's probably thinking he can take Marvin's minutes. Yet he's not helping protect the paint and his jump shooting is terrible.


Rasheed is more mature and (*if in shape) can recognize what we're doing here, contribute and keep him in check.

*that's a big if but with Nowitzki missing games for conditioning I think this Rasheed approach should be done, we want to get hot at the right time and need a PF/C with Sheed's talent to mix it up.
