the goals tonight

1. score 100 points (who cares what we give up)
2. dont let kemba get outplayed by knight. kemba needs to get the better end of one of the rookie matchups eventually.
3. give biz 15 minutes
4. give tyrus some minutes at pf
5. mullens grab at least 7 rebounds.

For discussion's sake until the game starts:

are we in a better situation than Detroit is? Considering what the future holds for both of these franchises. They have some good young talent, some cap space (yes, even with those horrible contracts of Gordon and Charlie V) and probably will get a top 5 pick next summer.

I guess the cons are that they are a team from Detroit - not the best chances in picking up somebody from the free agency.

if greg monroe keeps having 30 and 15 games, then i give the edge to detroit. if that was an anomaly then i give the edge to charlotte.

salary situations are similar - slight edge bobcats
future draft picks are similar (we have a 1st coming and going and a 2nd going, they have two 2nds coming) - slight edge pistons
young building blocks - augustin, henderson, kemba, biz, mullens vs stuckey, knight, monroe, daye - even?
location - detroit is a bigger market, charlotte is a better market, detroit has more history, charlotte has MJ - edge charlotte

i give a slight edge in charlotte's favor

I wouldnt say Charlotte is a better market since Detroit teams usually fill the seats. The pistons just dont have a good product right now.

I would like to see a win here. Silas blew it last night for not playing Matt Carroll.

By the way Matt Carroll is a "pistons killer"...

detroit is averaging 11k this year, well below all the other franchises. i think the days of the pistons drawing 20k crowds are long gone, even when they get better. i dont think they will ever get back to where they were from 1985 to 2008. its no secret that detroit is struggling as a city and losing population and corporations.

Please play Bismack Biyombo more than 15 minutes! I wanted the Pistons to draft him but his hype exploded and Brandon Knight fell into our laps. I think he's going to be the best defensive player in the league in 2-3 years.

Pretty sure Diop's value isn't going to improve. He is performing under his career averages of 2.0ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.1bpg! Would you want Villanueva for Diop straight up?

Hell no, Diop is our all-star game write-in. We wouldn't want to trade him and then see him play in Orlando in February. (By the way, for the ones who were interested in them - I'm working on getting us some "Gana Diop for ASG" sigs)

What do you guys think of Mullens this year? Got any comparisons you'd like to share?

IMO, there is not really a good comparison for him. Maybe a bigger Austin Daye? He's kinda a 7 feet SG who's money from 16 feet and has a good touch at the rim. He's really not that raw as he looked in OKC. He's a guy you can develop and bring in off the bench as a scorer. Dude's been good.

How is he defensively? If he's anything like Austin Daye that means he is clueless defensively and loses confidence and focus easily. Is he really 275 pounds? A 7'0" 275 pound Austin Daye is a scary offensive weapon.

Mullens is Carrolol's replacement holder. 7ft SG.

I don't think this "showcase Diop" stuff is ever gonna work. We are just providing fresh evidence of how much he sucks.

I just hope Kemba can have a solid game, he's certainly due.

Yeah there really isn't a good comparison. I don't like the Daye comparison because he's only Daye if Daye was confident, and had a good body size with ability to finish over/around other big men.
