Let's deal: Tyrus or Diaw for Blatche

Post#1 » by Bassman » Sat Jan 14, 2012 1:23 am

Per the RealGM headline:
[quoteThe Wizards are interested in trading Andray Blatche, according to sources.

But team officials are realistic about whether they will be successful as he has four seasons remaining on his current contract.

I know Blatche can be a pain, but he has some skills that would translate well into what we need at PF. I do not see Tyrus being our answer there, and Biz may never develop enough game to be a starter. Blatch can shoot, says he likes to post up, and is young enough to be a foundational piece of our future.

If Tyrus is another contract they don't want, maybe deal Diaw and a scrub for Blatche and another player we could use.

I can already see Mullens and Blatche fighting over who's turn it is to shoot.

Let's not add a pudgy black hole to the team.

Seriously, why wouldn't Blatche fit in with Mulley? Blatche is complaining in DC that he's not getting the ball down on the block. He's a decent rebounder and defends when inspired. Wouldn't ya'll rather have him than Tyrus?

Let's see, the Wizards have surrounded him with young studs like John Wall, JaVale McGee, Jan Vesely, Nick Young, and others. And they're terrible. Why would he be less terrible for us and our youth movement?

I think we have a low-maintenance version of him in DJ White. So only if they would "throw-in" Veselý.

i think he meant "black hole" as in a person who doesnt pass, the ball goes in and never comes out, like the black holes in space. not black as in the skin color. the term black hole in basketball is not racist.

byron mullens is a black hole.

Oh yeah because we need a player that will destroy our youth development. Oh Bassman you are a good laugh.

Yikes! Blatche is garbage.

Tyrus does need to go, but not for Blatche. Actually I'm beginning to hate Tyrus. He's on my sh*t list now.

Yes to both counts.

Blatche makes Maurice Taylor look unselfish.

I've been a supporter of Blatche in the past, but that moment has passed. He's no good for us.

Yes, it was intended as a joke...sorry it wasn't clear.

So, no love here for Blatche. Still, no one has answered my follow-up, so let me pose it differently:

If you had to keep one player or the other for the remainder of his contract, which would you rather have...Tyrus or Blatche? My money would be on Blatche. He's bigger, stronger, and can play in the post or hit a jump shot. He's not as athletic as T2, but that quality is not translating into anything for this team.

Blatche doesn't cut it for me. I do like more talent on this team, however his attitude just doesn't seem to be there. He needs veterans around him and we don't have any to keep his mind straight.

FTFY. TT fits a lot better with whatever team we will become a lot better than Blatche will. If we draft a big like Drummond, Davis, or Jones III, their development will be stalled by Blatche, if we draft a wing like Barnes or Kidd-Gilchrist then Blatche's plodding feet will hurt the up-tempo scheme that would be ideal with the youngins.
