Would Ray Allen be a possibility at all?

Post#1 » by therealbig3 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 1:13 pm

His contract is up after this season, I've heard that he wants a multi-year deal that the Celtics don't want to give him...if Howard is a free agent, and we sign him, would there be any possibility at signing Ray-Ray? I don't know how our cap space works out. How much money would we have left over for other free agents if we sign Williams and Howard to big contracts?

Williams, Allen, and Howard would be unholy. :o

I would rather hold on to Morrow and Brooks and let them mature and gain experience. Allen would be an instant upgrade if he could join the team this year and sign for one more. But multiyear?? I dont think so, hes like 147 years old.

With Dwight here, there couldn't be a better complimentary signing than Ray Allen. Even at his age, he's still awesome and keeps himself in great shape.

He won't leave Boston, they'd have to let him walk.

The Nets won't have the capspace. Once Lopez is signed, the capspace is gone.

What if we trade Lopez, instead of resigning him to a big contract? What if it's something like a K-Mart situation, where if we have Deron and Dwight, we sign and trade Lopez for draft picks, or a nice SF?

And I'd actually have no problem giving Allen a 3-year deal or something, if that could be worked out. Dude is the best shooter ever, and he keeps himself in great shape. He's a lock for 15+ ppg every year until he retires imo. Imagine him getting wide open looks with Howard in the paint, and Williams setting him up...with Morrow coming off the bench? That would be insane.

Well, that nice SF would have to be less than 9-10 million when added to Ray Allen's salary, so you're looking at someone on a rookie scale contract and signing Ray to a 3 year, 20 million deal or something similar. Doesn't seem feasible, though the idea behind it is sound.
