Avery is confusing.

He's waiting for his main man James to come back to the starting SF, of course.

You know Avery doesn't have the brains to just TRY OUT DAMION JAMES AT BACKUP 4. NO WING TIME. The guy's strong as hell and a beastly rebounder, very rarely would he present a matchup issue on D, esp against backups. Give him a chance to beat people down the floor, maybe penetrate a bit in the half court, and cut Shelden Williams out of the rotation. Would probably help our pick and roll defense as well.

I'm..partially torn.

The guy is a lights out shooter, and IF we land Dwight, then Dwight covers for a lot of Morrow's deficiencies while boosting his one true asset...shooting.

But man, without a legit big man?

Morrow is just so useless out there. He can't create, he can't defend. He's lost defensively. He can't finish.

But Dwight and Deron wants him, so he stays for now

I don't think we're trading Brooks.Unlike the Knicks we have plenty of draft picks to give up along with Lopez and expirings.

I agree that he's awful defensively, but his ability to hit big shots and his reliability at hitting open 3s makes him very valuable. He has been shooting lights out these past few games despite no inside presence on our team.

Agree with you on Morrow, but he does that one thing so well. And we don't need him to create and he's very rarely put in situations where he needs to finish at the rim anyway. Morrow is a make or break piece with Dwight, he's built to space and play off an inside out offense. I mean, I especially wouldn't trade him for Mayo, who pretty much does what Marshon does.

He's not a make or break piece.

Clinging to the idea that he's a deal breaker for Dwight is insane.

He mentioned him over the summer to draw attention to the fact he wanted to be a Net.

He is supposedly also friends with him and sure they would compliment each other quite well, but he's not as important in the grand scheme of things as people are making him out to be.

And Mayo and MarShon are not nearly as similar as people are saying either.

i missed the game,so don't know whether or not we played good, but i will take the win.so how did we play?besides Deron of course!!!!i see that okur played 40 minutes.i know he is a defensive reliability but i'd rather see him on the floor then seeing petro.i was really hard on Morrow couple weeks ago,but i guess he found his touch.as long as he makes his shots and don't take silly shots i don't have a problem with him.

This team will be a solid team when lopez is back.and if avery can actually coach the team and keep guys like petro,j.williams on the bench and keep playing farmar.i think we can make the playoffs :o

Jordan Williams?? If anything he should be getting more playing time.

We absolutely need to win tomorrow in Utah if we want any chance at staying afloat until Lopez comes back, because our 6 games after that:

Clippers
Warriors
Thunder
Bobcats
Bulls
Sixers

The only winnable game I see there is the Bobcats. The Warriors have a similar record, but they've played some good teams really close.

But I have a feeling we're going to get owned by the Jazz. We have a horrible defensive front court, and they have a pretty deep and pretty nice front court (Jefferson, Milsap, Kanter, Favors). I cringe at the thought of Humphries or Okur trying to stop Jefferson down low.

for a guy that played 40 min, okur really doesn't seem to do much anymore except provide a big body that's not really horrid

I thought Okur was solid on offense, but his defense has gone from mediocre to abysmal.

He just doesn't have any quickness or lift left, age and the injury have killed him.

Okur did a decent job offensively, and his big body allowed him to get some rebounds. But defensively he's just putrid.

Really, Shelden, Shawne, Hump, and Okur is as bad a defensive frontline as you'll find. I really can't imagine that an undersized James or Horny Horner would be as bad. At least those guys are somewhat athletic.

Okur has the most momentum killing defense/fouls I've ever seen.

I actually wasn't referring to his relationship with Dwight, I remember that list, but I have no idea how deep it runs and don't really feel like I'm in a position to assess the degree to which Dwight values playing with his boy. Just how a clutch spot up shooter like Morrow on a solid deal is key piece for an inside out offense. Morrow's obviously not the only guy that could fill that role, but we do know he's legitimately great at it, and it would suck to just move him and end up with nothing next year. I don't really think we'll move him anyway with the way he's shooting now.
