i agree with raja bell as well.

Kobe is great no doubt BUT

give 30 shots to Nowitzki, carter, lebron, ray allen, pierce, garnett, tmac, ai, etc , etc....
They`ll put up good numbers as well.

You can't complain because they're winning but I still think Bynum is very underutilized.

Lol I didn't even have to look at the box score to know he took 30 shots.

Lakers probably doesn't want to use Bynum " too much" in case he gets injured before Dwight arrives knowing that Bynum had enough to showcase his capabilities in the previous few games.

He has been pretty terrible at the ends of these last few games. Shot badly in the 3rd + OT last night, and was a pretty gross 6-18 in the second half of this game.

I'll take 2 wins though.

The thing is he is shooting very close to 50%, he just isn't getting to the line like he used to. Dwight got to 45 points with 39 FTs. He has been very efficient in getting his points recently.

40 points by anyone in the NBA is an impressive feat, so you should be impressed by the skill and ability it take to do it. However, I agree with you questioning why he is trying to do so much on his own when he has Bynum and Gasol ready and able to do more inside.

I am pretty surprised Kobe has been able to put up 3 straight 40+, but I am not really impressed by his performances.. he's been shooting way too much imo..

And it would be different if he was taking 30 shots and they were good shots, but he takes 5-10 terrible shots a game

He shot 48%, he has big men who shoot 50% on a consistent basis. It was the wrong decision to shoot that many shots but they won that's what matters most.

Did you see the Lakers offense at the beginning of the 4th quarter without Kobe in the game. Pau Gasol missed 3 shots and the Lakers scored ZERO points in almost 6 minutes.

A ton of his shots are contested jumpers, which makes it pretty impressive even if it's not "team" basketball. Very few players (if any) can do it for a whole season imo. While other star players might have better/similar efficiency from mid-range, more of their jumpers are probably open/less contested shots.

It's a good thing the Chris Paul trade got vetoed. Kobe and his obsession with being the man would have killed that team before it even got off the ground.

Bynum still struggles with doubles so I felt like he was used perfectly tonight. Get him the ball when he has good position but don't run the offense through him. Pau Gasol and Barnes got a fair number of shots as well, Kobe was mostly taking possessions away from Fisher and the useless bench. It wasn't Kobe's best game and he took some bad shots but overall I thought he played it pretty well.

He's a Top 3 player in the league along with Rose and Durant, but there's nothing more contrived than jacking up 30+ shots to achieve 40 points against cupcake defensive teams.
